North Carolina State Fairgrounds Campground: what do users think?
Rose E: Very odd from beginning to end..there were spots open no reservations..but you are in middle if a parking lot that is not camping in my opinion...then picked my spot parked camper had to call a number tell them what site you are at they come to you to collect payment waited about 40 minutes guy finally came he was nice but really.....
roger slone: I would give it a 5 if it were not for the terrible dusty road going in. The location is greatb for visiting the attractions nearby.Noteworthy details: It is not a hotel it is a campground.
Barbara Witham: Basic campground with full hookups.Security on site. Trash pickupFirst Come, first served. No reservations. $35 per night. 2 week limit. Many open sites. We stayed 5 days and found a lot to do in the immediate area. We have bicycles and they were welcomed in the closed fairgrounds so we had fun exploring the grounds. We went to 3 public gardens that were nearby, and today we are sunning and swimming at the local public pool. The cg is quiet. Everyone keeps to themselves and many stay just a night out two. You see all kinds of campers here; new and school bus conversions, and really old junk campers.NO BATH HOUSE, no dog park but plenty of places to walk with your dog.Only minor issues were the sites need mowing and the road in and out is very bumpy. There is a dump station for $10.39' toy hauler, extended cab pick up. Plenty of room. Very flat sites. No hills. Easy in and outNearby activities: 3 free public gardens1 public pool ($6 pp senior rate)Plenty of restaurants nearby with all nationalities of foodYou might catch a horse show at the fairground next door to the campground. There's a gun show this weekend and a Flea Market.Safety: Well lighted, quiet, 24 hr security. Felt very comfortable hereWalkability: You can drive across the street and walk through the fairground.
Jimmy Regan: Awesome
Evelyn Outlaw: Awesome place to set up camp for a few days and tour the city. Beautiful, clean grounds. Full hook-ups for a nominal fee. It's quiet and centrally located to downtown, NC State, and PNC Arena where the Canes play. And you also are right there where all the fairground events are held. Great value for the money!Nearby activities: Close to downtown, NC State, and PNC ArenaWalkability: Able to walk to the fairground events, including the weekend flea markets
Lynne W: What a great find. Full hookups for $35 near everything in Raleigh. There are so few places to park an RV here and this is near perfect. No reservations yet so call to see if there is room. You pick a space and they come collect their money. Will accept charges as well as cash. No frills or amenities but quiet and peaceful.Location: 5/5 …More
Pete Austin: This is a pretty nice campground, even more so as a fairground. See the pictures and video that I added. Far more room than I have seen in other places. Plenty of room for larger rigs. We are 47'. They have 50 and 30amp, water and sewer. No problems getting in - no tight turns or low trees. When we pulled in, we were met by a very lovely security guard who was helpful and friendly.Pro tips:1. Make sure that you are on Youth Center Drive. Otherwise Maps will try to get you to turn off of Trinity. That will likely take you through the fairground itself - a bad choice.2. Do not stop at the guard booth. There is nobody there. You should see a phone number on the booth. Find a spot and call the number, security will come to you to take your money.
Wilbur Kelly: Outstanding!
Leeann Montalbano: Pros:-first come, first serve-lots of spots-easy check in process-great location and easy to get to downtownCons:-potholes leading into the space are not fun-the spots are all roughly the same size. It would have been nice to have some longer ones for bigger rigs.-no picnic tables or seating at the sites-no fire rings-same price as most of the state parks we've stayed in without nearly as many amenities
Debi Hill: It is a perfect place to RV when u want to walk across the street to the PNC arena for hockey games. Cost the same as a parking pass and no traffic to deal with after the game!Location: 5/5 …More
Jennifer “Fer” Grindle: Peaceful friendly and only $38 a night
Harry Mintzer: Great place to stay. 50 amp full hookup
merridith berberian: Quiet but pricey. Nice place. Can only stay 14 days in a 30 day period but you can ask to stay longer (work, medical, etc.)Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Thomas Stout: Staying at RV Park. Quiet and great level parking full hook up and 50 Amp service.Nearby activities: Near N.C. State.Safety: Security patrolWalkability: Safe walking area's
Natalie Acheson: This is an excellent location, nice size sites, full-hookups and easy to maneuver for big rigs. First come first serve during the winter, spring months, plenty of spaces and very well run. For $35/night it's an excellent place to stay!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Camp Lapihio: what do users think?
Oak Miller: Very clean
Kevin Rumsey: Very nice and rustic
DETH POOL: I came, I LARPed, I had fun
David Rolen: Home of the Umstead 100, miles of trails. What's not to love?
Emily Floess: Nice place in umstead park
Joseph Webb: A beautiful place to spend time in the out doors. The camps are always clean.
H. J: Peaceful and calm area. Good for families and friends to go with
Simon Packman: Well developed with cabins and a lake with bass fishing.
Haze Alt: My friends and I love using the cabins here to organize a big camp out with LARPing!
Alan Clegg: The HQ for the Umsted 100 mile (24 hour) race. Great facility and a great race.
Shaz 1980: Wonderful experience
Amei conhecer o lugar.
Talin Kelly Brown: The camp is beautiful and the cabins are nice. Unfortunately the close proximity to the airport means loud planes overhead every hour or so.

Holly Point Campground State Recreation Area: what do users think?
Abbey Starks: Bathrooms are very well maintained even with rain and mud all around! Beautiful sites and lake views.Restrooms: Clean including roomy showers and flush toilets
Barbara Woodsome: I just love camping at Holly point. It is so nice clean bathrooms very clean. I keep going back every year.!!
Dawn Gogin: Awesome campground that we stay at every time we visit family. Large clean sites and beautiful lake.
Kevin McKenna: Nice quiet hide away. The o ly drawbacks are, no pump out at camp sites. 30 amp limit and tree coverage is 80-100%.Satellite reception is poor.It is quiet and beautiful
Dawn Ciaccio: Very nice campground! The sites are big and some are more private than alot of campgrounds. The grounds are very clean and no issues with the restrooms. We got in at 8pm so went straight to our site. Park Ranger came by the next morning, he was very nice, briefly went over the few rules and went in his way. Given 4 stars for a few things. You can hear constant highway traffic (loop 3. Not sure about the other areas). Not a big deal and no fault of the campground but sounds strange when being so far in the woods. There is NO WiFi. There is no camp store for firewood.
Elizabeth Coughlan: Best location at the park, the staff at the entrance station is particularly incredible.
Ron Viles: Wonderful park for camping. Entire park is clean and so are the restrooms. Park has lake access, so if your up for a swim go for it. Cant wait to come again after the closure in January for upgrades. Keep up the great work NC Park staff.Restrooms: Restrooms adequate and cleaned regularly. Cant wait to see them after the closure in Jan 2023.
Don Sweet: Great for what we needed it for, fishing, running, plenty of shade
Elliot G: Lots of space between sites. Sites are level and well equipped. Barh houses are clean and water is HOT. Beaches, fishing, boating access. Its pretty great.
Kevin Rumsey: Relaxing
Kaylee Aleshire: Great location, clean campsites. We stayed 2 nights in site 131. The site was a little oddly set up for a larger tent being that the table couldn't be moved and the fire pit was centered on the site but we made it work. We were fairly close to the restrooms but not too close. Many sites along the water. Very shade covered area. Bathhouse had 4 showers that were kept clean. We drove to the boat landing and swimming area, they seemed very clean and well cared for. Drove through the other loops in the campground which also seemed nice.
Lynn & Glenn Carroll (The Carrolls): So many great comments, hints and suggestions in previous reviews, but just add how helpful the park staff were in booking our recent stay. Our campsite and stay were perfect!First time we had seen double sites, and the handicapped sites were well thought out. Campground was clean and well maintained.A great intro. to NC Parks!🤠
Monica: Morning view. Beautiful place. Very clean.
jeremiah Bastian: I really enjoyed the place the atmosphere was more woods and less lake Aside from me catching a misdemeanor from my dog being a nuisance it was OKI would recommend it for the family probably in the Spring
T Barbee: Excellent, well maintained, campground for overnight and longer stays !!!
Chris Langenbrunner: Just one loop open. Great spots, well maintained and spaced far apart on this loop. This is our 2nd year at Hollypoint prior to Christmas. Site 103. Can see water. Be prepared for a bit of road noise and airport flyway. Also some sort of helicopter training treetop along lakeshore was interesting. Stayed 14 nights.
Teresa Wales: Beautiful park with lots of space between RV sites.
Vernon Terry: Super great
Chris Smith: We had an amazing night at this campground! Brought our pups and slept next to the lake. Facilities are well kept and maintained, there was some vehicle noise from a nearby road but really not bad later at night going to bed. Plenty of room for more than one vehicle or if you want group camping. There was a park ranger that would patrol every once in a while which gave us some peace of mind there was someone keeping an eye out. The grounds were well kept and they have a boat ramp that we may bring our boat next time to spend some time on the lake. Their website also offered a map of the grounds just in case you want something to look at online before you go to help pick out a spot. Overall we will be back!
Fran Boyd: Great campground and fantastic getaway.
Dale Francum: Nice campground if you get a good site. Definitely avoid 131 in Loop 4. There is a walking path, 25-30 feet, from the end of the gravel pad to site 117's parking space. Definitely an issue for privacy. Meanwhile the parking space for 131 is up a path, 100+ feet away

Lakeside Retreats & Glamping: what do users think?
shelli adams: Stayed here while attending Dead and Company and had a wonderful experience. This place is a little hidden gem in Raleigh. The owners had great communication and the Yurt was very clean. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a chance!
Bobby Simpson: This place was clean and everything you would want or need perfect trails, woods and ponds. The Oak City Shredfest was fantastic and we had everything we needed!
Nick Christy: Excellent place. Had a blast. Definitely go again
Mark Lopez: Beautiful yurts, serene lake, the road back to the campsites is a tad rough, but you are able to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life for a bit!
Molly Chopin: One of the most majestic, magical properties I've camped on. 10/10 recommend.
Epicuria Radio: Awesome place for festivals!
Madi Johnson: We recently visited Lakeside Retreats. It was an amazing location and we will be back. They have yurts, glamping, outdoor and indoor showers, a sauna, a private lake and more. It was such an amazing spot! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet and fun stay in or around Raleigh.
Paige Barnes: This property is absolutely gorgeous. The sunsets over the lake are magical. Beautiful yurt cold, plain hotel room. I highly recommend that you check Lakeside Retreats out!
Zachariah Troxel: Great Campout festival grounds. Nice lake and pretty clean for the most part. Plenty of walking space.
Matt Behnke: Mind under matter campout festival went swimmingly. Soup and crew run an effective, efficient, and safe festival. MUMfest is best fest due to the stellar venue, amenities and attention to detail of Lakeside Retreats.
Dalton Zerlan: Right outside the city. Beautiful piece of land with forested area, ponds, luxury yurts, peaceful peninsulas for tents... would/will definitely return.
Carol Donner: Very clean, quiet, and secluded. I thoroughly enjoyed my camping experience at Lakeside Retreats and Glamping. I really felt connected to nature while still having modern amenities. So close to downtown Raleigh too. The lake is gorgeous. The stage, sound, and lighting is out of this world. It's a very laid back, relaxing environment. Highly recommended!
Steven Magsig: Highly recommend and I will definitely go again. I flew into RDU, rented a camper van, and heading to Lakeside Retreats on a 4 night camping adventure. I reserved one of the lakeside spots and stared over the lake envious of the yurts. But, I actually had the perfect setup and walking the property to explore was easy. There was music at night and the sound and lighting was extremely professional. Across from the lake the stage music was not intrusive. Next time I visit, my only struggle will be… deciding to rent a camper van again or try and reserve one of those yurts.
Connor Childrose: Beautiful property - spacious and secluded. Everything you could ask for in a venue like this. Couldn't recommend it more.
Jennifer Nalepa: This property is so great for a getaway and glamping experience. The Yurts are super spacious and are right near the lake with beautiful views. The property is great to walk around and the whole experience was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Chad Becker: Although you're only about 20 minutes away from the city, it's super secluded. It had outdoor showers with hot water, which surprised me. The lake is a decent size, so you're never that far away from the shore.
Strawman Fallacy: Then property itself is massive. Everything is gorgeous and the trails blend in to the natural foliage. Nothing is obtrusive. The lake is a lake. It's everything you'd expect. Great access to all areas of the property from the banks. Tons of paddle boards to use. My favorite form of transportation.Camping is amazing but the YURTS are a gem. Absolutely love the accomodations. But the real star is the ownership. The man is one of the sweetest and most kind people I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with.Overall this place is incredible and I'll be going back every year.
Lea Long: this place is so beautiful!! it’s so spacious in the middle of magical woods. has showers for after you swim or paddle board in the lake! relaxing hammocks, saunas, yurts!! they thought of everything :) looking forward to coming back soon!
Zeke Sharp: Arriving to the secluded lake half a mile from the entry road it is apparent that this is a magical private haven. Great for tent camping and swimming without many bugs or hazards. The yurts supply modern furniture and amenities like a hotel and lounge with refrigerator, microwave, coffee and tea making tools. The property itself was surprisingly clean of litter and cigarettes. Showers and sauna are a very short walk. It really feels like a Retreat dream destination more than any camping I’ve ever experienced.
Tony Leasure: I absolutely love lakeside retreats. I was just here for mumfest 2022 and had one of the best experiences of my life. Such a great campground, laid out well. Spent so much time swimming in the lake. Met so many amazing people. I will absolutely be coming back to this camp ground.
Shane Mauss: Unbeatable.I travel endlessly. I have stayed in hundreds of Airbnbs, thousands of hotels, and done all kinds of camping. This was easily one of my best stays ever.I stayed for a week and a half and between weekends I happened to be the only one there. WOW.It's intimate even if all 6 yurts are booked on the weekends but to have the entire huge property to myself for a few days was mind-blowing.This new property was an incredible find and I can't wait to go back. I would have paid double the price easily. I think they are newer and family owned and underselling themselves.Fish were jumping out of the water. There were deer everywhere (drive slow on the way in). Majestic cranes and other birds kept me company as I used my stand up paddle board. There were even paddleboats anyone could use and a marvelous outdoor sauna.I traveled solo this time but I will be back to bring friends and renting out the whole place. The biggest problem is now I'm obsessed with wanting to buy my own yurt and wish I could not afford such incredible piece of land to put it on.

Shinleaf Group Campsites: what do users think?
Brian Gilley: Great camp area. Be sure to look at their online maps and pick a camp spot at the ends of the "branches" where you will likely have more space and privacy. Hike on the Mountain to Sea trail that cuts through Shinleaf (just before the loop parking lot) or hike down to the end of the Shinleaf campsite area. It is a total of 2.8 miles to do the entire, wide path trail down the middle of the Shinleaf campsites to a narrow point of Falls Lake. This path is super easy.
Moriah Louviere: Go here annually. Always enjoy a clean campsite and restrooms. Shaded sites, so even when the temps are high, it's nice.
Nichol Tate: Great location.
Linda Fernbacher: Beautiful and secluded.
Pablo Gonzalez: Very nice primitive camping area for groups. Enough space for 11 tents and plenty trees for hammocks. We had a blast enjoying labor day weekend beside the Neuse River. There are restrooms at walking distance from the camp site, and bathhouse at the entry. Bring hand soap as sometimes it runs out.
frank canon: Clean bathrooms and friendly staff. But we experienced one of the wildest parties I’ve ever heard that night!! No sleeping here!! Hopefully this is a one and done.
maxx Promotion: Family fun
Eric Garcia: Great camp experience. Reserved a site online and had a great weekend with my boys and a couple of friends.
Yaser Yaseen: Is not good at all. Alot of spiders and you need walk long way to be in your site.. bathrooms are so nasty and no soap to wash your hands... no security around... the floor to make your tent on it is so darty...anyway ill never go back.
lizbonosavestheday: Nice hike-in. Small sites. Bathrooms smelled so bad I almost threw up, unusable.
Jerrica Castleberry: Our favorite place to camp around here. Bathrooms are convenient, sites are spaced out with grills! Make sure to lock your cars in the parking lot.
Mandy Baxley: Campground and bath facilities were clean and well maintained. The campsites feel secluded as each site is set back in the woods with lots of tree coverage.
Seth Sullivant: Really nice campground. Trail makes it easy to haul stuff in to your campsite via cart.
Kevin Qian: Very nice and quiet, we camped here for 2 nights. Bathrooms were clean and trails were great.
Zachary Outen: Campsites are great, very well maintained and spacious. Somebody seriously needs to enforce the 10pm curfew though, the groups near us had screaming toddlers and were up shining lights, chopping wood and talking loudly until almost 3 in the morning.
Eric Gainer: Nice camping area with fire pit, benches, and access to Falls Lake. Great hiking trails nearby, and a good spot to relax. Vehicles can be parked next to campsites for convenience
Erika Veiszlemlein: The walk in campsites here are awesome! They are well spaced apart so you have your own area, fire ring with grill, picnic table and lantern hook are available on each site. The main bath house and the small, composting out house close to our site were extremely clean and well maintained. No electric available. Really beautiful spot for a few nights of camping--will be back!
Andrew Vincent: Amazing campsite! Most all of the campsites have water access... Very clean, very friendly and helpful rangers. We had a great time and couldn't have asked for a better location. Highly recommend this place, and we will be back this spring with a lot more friends. Very close to Raleigh!
Bill Blake: Beautiful campground! Clean. Perfect for tent campers.
Yousuf Badar: Amazing campsite
AP05: Amazing place to camp
