Loafers Beach Club: what do users think?
Heather Hall: When entering the venue, the woman charged with membership and welcoming folks to the Western swing dance night immediately took an accusatory tone with me and my friend. She asked us how we had even found the event and seemed reluctant and defensive about letting us in. We were wearing dancing clothes and had come prepared to learn and be respectful. We were completely sober. I don’t know if I looked too young, queer, or Jewish, but she was straight up angry at us for finding the event. My friend had called during the day to make sure the event was still happening and we drove almost an hour to be there. She discouraged us at every opportunity and even searched my bag and told me I was not allowed to bring in a water bottle. She made us feel extremely unwelcome. This treatment was not the same for anyone else who entered, so maybe you won’t be similarly treated as a trespasser. When asked if she wanted us to leave, she tried to back pedal and apologize, but the damage was done. Thanks but no thanks- you made my visit sour and did not provide any hospitality. I hope this venue can find a less offensive person with more appropriate social skills to help them host what was otherwise a fine experience. As an educator, I know the importance of students feeling safe and accepted in their learning environment. It took me almost 30 minutes just to shake the feeling that I was not who they wanted there, so learning became a challenge. Other folks were fairly kind, but watch out for this lady because whatever bitterness she has towards the world may be placed in you.
Roger Underhill: Great place to dance. Dedicated to it, in fact. Wonderful floor, great people, even set some snacks out for us!
james lewis: Loafers.... it's fabulous! There was a mixture of people of all ages. Everyone was having good, clean fun. The music was great! The food was delicious. The bar tender was very efficient and fast. Friendly people in a friendly atmosphere. It was my very first visit, but I was with a friend who had been there many times before. If you want to have a good time and you enjoy meeting people, dancing, and enjoying a good cocktail, this is a great venue to check out!I will definitely be going back again. Even though we drove 100 miles to get there! Next time, I'll get a hotel room so I can stay later.
Scott Jordan: Excellent venue! We were a touch confused at the entrance with applying for membership. But the woman at the ticker counter was lovely and very kind. We paid the fee which was expected. And are looking forward to membership! Excellent class spent an hour learning an intermediate / advanced dance move. We had a great time. Can't say enough good things about loafers.
Tim Epps: The wifey and I went for Dance lessons... Had to buy an annual membership, but that was only $10 and the 1st lesson was free. The dance instructor and the entire Loafers staff there were all incredibly friendly and made it fun. Even the other dance class members were fun snd helpful.
Gary Gibson: Loafers is a private club and these people are not members. Sometimes, folks will come after partying at another club and want to get in to use restroom or grab another drink. It is posted at our door that we are private. Many times, we feel they could already be under the influence or we are uncertain as to how much they have drank. It is really unfair that folks can post negative post and that venue can’t explain the real deal. One that posted was trying to come in and we felt she had already had too much of a party and refused to leave. No one was rude, just firm and she didn’t do well with that.
Chelsea Compton: If my opinion mattered, then it would. But it doesn't. But the owner was mean to me, and that's not cool. And I wanted you to know.
Emily Stengel: Looks like a nice dance floor but couldn’t get in. They didn’t advertise it was members only. Looks like they don’t care to make any money.
Laura Lewis: Membership required. Not advertised on Google. Looked like fun place for country swing dancing but couldn’t get in
Ken Sheffield: Good music and friendly dancers
John Cobb: Great music and dancing.
Kim VanPelt: Great place for multiple styles of dance. People are awesome, staff is amazing. Always a fun time.
Denise Synowiez: Love Loafers Beach I am a west coast swing dancer but do all kinds. I love the atmosphere and the wonderful people makes it feel like family. The owners are awesome that care about their customers.
Frank Jiang: Pretty unfriendly, arrived late on a Friday night for a west coast social and was told that I had leave as I wasn’t a member or a guest of a member. Was not even told that I could apply to be a member
Cherie Berger: Great place to go dancing. The people are friendly and the owners really care about their customers.
Tom Davis: Nice intimate club very friendly people. Fun place to meet people your own age
Gisela Umbuzeiro: Wonderful place! Catalina’s band is just awsome🕺
Tev Sanders: Absolutely wonderful place to Carolina Shag Dance
Jen Starr: Best place is the Universe :)
David Shelton II: Showed up on a Monday.. walked about 20’ into building and got chased out... I went in to drink and dance.. but was only able to say hello and then oh ok goodbye...
Shari Huggett: Best place for west coast swing in North Carolina.

Jim Polizzi: Fun, great experience there.
Sarah Laws: The studio is a great venue for a company to host a class/meeting. Projector screen, tables, chairs, you have access to adjust your own temperature in the room, etc. Great space in a convenient location with access to an extra large elevator, ample parking, CLEAN bathrooms and a Starbucks downstairs!!! To add icing on the cake, the studio owner is amazing! Super friendly. Tables and chairs were already set up when I arrived to set up for my class. Will I book this venue to teach another class, YES!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
bobby dracula: We met for a work meeting
Wylanda Townes: I wrote a post earlier about taking the owner to court for not refunding me on my event. I had a event there in 2017 and it went will. So I couldn't have the 2020 event because of COVID-19. We went to court and she was told to pay back the money but she still refuses. I didn't know she was so hard up for money. We could have did a half and half payment plan. She is willing to go back to court Superior court to again try not to pay me.. so sad.. God bless you.🙏🙏🙏🙏
W.townes.wt@gmail.com boogie44: I was purpose to have a Adult Prom there and because of COVID-19. It provided me from doing so... So I contacted the owner 2months in advance to let her know and that I needed a refund. She refused to give me my money back. I took her to court and won of course and she still refuses. She lied in court and said I didn't pay my full amount and I have proof to show.. I will never use this Event Center ever again and I will be going public soon. I will be taking this to the news..
Evee Malveaux: Wonderful employees and a beautiful atmosphere!
Lane Dunyak: My husband and I started taking ballroom dancing lessons a year ago at A Step to Gold. It has been one of the best things we have ever done. The instructors are professionals who communicate well and can teach students at all levels. They are very flexible to find a time for lessons that work best for their students. Not only does the cost include private lessons, but unlimited group lessons and dances to practice throughout the week. Melanie, the owner, also works hard to provide fun dance events and dinners to bring even more opportunities to learn and practice. Payment plans are available. Many of the students who come have been taking for years at A Step to Gold. The atmosphere is positive, encouraging and fun. During Covid--Melanie has worked very hard to provide her customers the best opportunities while operating under restrictions--like offering virtual lessons and dancing outside. Dancing is good for the soul and we always feel refreshed and happy after a lesson.
Betty Black: Great atmosphere and very nice people. I could not ask for more.
Barbara Cohen: A Step to Gold is the friendliest warmest place a person can go to meet people, learn to dance, share some wine, and get a little exercise to boot. The studio is spacious, clean and welcoming.
James Richardson: Melanie is and excellent instructor with a classy ballroom. She has helped me improve my techniques and added a variety of new dance moves to my training.
Jane R'Com: We rented the venue for my sister's wedding. Everything was very promising. Owner was very open to working with us as we come multiple times to plan our set ups. I am disappointed to say that the elevator broke down approximately a week before the wedding and nothing was done to get it fixed. Loading and unloading took twice as long to get done which delayed the reception. My great grandmother who is 99 years old, could not join us at the reception because she cannot use the stairs. Owner said that we should get her up anyway and call 911 to get her down later on, (how can that be said to an old person who's afraid to even walk).I hired people to decorate the place and have them stayed to clean up so my family don't have to do all the work. My sister who got married and her husband instead of going off on their honeymoon, stayed back until 1am to moved things downstairs because the elevator wasn't working and they felt bad for the decorating ladies who have to move boxes of heavy object down two flights of stairs. Owner provided a Matt and robes to lowered the decoration downstairs. She was not around and her worker brought the Matt and started asking us to put stuff in it. As he was lowering it, stuff came flying down and a couple objects was broken which cost me my $200 deposit fee to the decoration ladies. My family was careful to not break anything all night and in the end I still lost $200. Owner kept asking us to pay her worker for his help that we never asked for. My brother in law gave owner $50 for her worker's help because he rather just be done with it.We love to share our special day with people. However, it is lack of manner for food to be eaten from the table before the bride and groom even arrived at the venue. Our wedding director told me the owner and her worker had made do go plates while tables are being set.I have no doubt it is a great place for dance lessons, but as for big/special events such as ours, I feel like the owner should be more attentive in making sure their customers are satisfied, after all it is their big day. Money should never be more important than satisfied customers. We still tried to make the best out of what was available to us. We respect people and never want to bring negativity to anyone. I shared this so that changes can be done for people after us. I'm sorry I cannot give more than 1 star.
Mountain Girl: My husband and I have been taking dance lessons since March. It has been a very positive experience. The dance teachers here are highly trained and educated in dance, proper posture and fitness for dance. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time and plan to continue. Our goal is purely recreational, and it has been a great way to have fun together while getting some exercise. They also have a great stretch class open to students AND others.
Erika Vaughan: I don’t feel as if the establishment of professional and needs to give clients that are shelling out so much money time for the money they’re paying

Stage Door Dance Productions: what do users think?
Denise Ellis: My daughter has been dancing at Stage Door Dance Studios for 14 years! We have loved the direction of the studio and the support for the dancers. It is a positive environment for all skill levels. Your dancer will enjoy Stage Door Dance!
Kelly Maglio: My daughter has attended the Stage Door, Briercreek location for the past 10 years. The team of admin personnel and dance instructors are hands down some of the most professional and caring people that I have ever come in contact with. They are role models to their students and run an extremely positive and impactful program. Finally, I can't speak more highly of the owner, Chasta. The way she navigated the business through Covid was remarkable. And I have always been so impressed with her focus on building a business that develops students into strong, confident children and young adults who give back to their communities and make a difference in the lives of others.
Zahira Floyd: Ms ChastaI wanted to take a moment and write a thank you email to you and all your staff. As you know Emmanuel and I were a little hesitant to sign him up for the summer camp because he is a little bit older and he was new to your program. I can wholeheartedly say that we have been nothing but impressed and felt very welcomed and included among your stuff and with the other children. Everyone from Ms Sheryl, to your instructor for the camp, to yourself we're very reassuring, communicative, and just really made us feel welcomed. I am so happy that Emmanuel had an opportunity to work on acting and singing and working together as a team with other children and I know this is made a great impression on him.We highly recommend Stage Door to any parent looking for a safe, fun and creative learning environment for their children and we will definitely be back.RegardsZai Floyd
Jillian Kuhn Brown: SDD Brier Creek was the perfect first dance experience for my child. Her teacher Hannah was wonderful, she learned a lot and made great friends, and Chasta & the admin team were always helpful, responsive, and organized. I love the school’s philosophy, too, and would definitely recommend!
Tracey O'Connell: I don't believe there are enough superlatives in the dictionary to adequately describe Stage Door Dance. My daughter has danced at two other studios in the area- both of which were wonderful- AND Stage Door Dance is about dancing and so much more!Through Chasta Hamilton's model of the love of dance performance more than dance competition, she has been able to give these kids the joy of self-expression, rather than anxiety. The costs are MUCH less expensive than other studios and the value is MORE. The programming includes personal development and character-building curricula that positively influence the dancers far beyond the studio. They are able to show up confidently in everything they do because they feel comfortable with themselves and are able to bring their whole selves, including their imperfections, into the world. This is possible because they are encouraged to embrace their own authenticity.Rather than paying for competitions and costumes, SDD actually RAISES money and morale for charitable organizations in our area, including Comfort Zone camp, for kids who have lost a parent or caregiver. SDD is giving back to the world, rather than spending it on 3-minute competitions that involve expensive entry fees and travel.Even in the midst of a pandemic, the dancers were able to meet in-person, with masks and temperature checks, even before the vaccine was released- without a single COVID case limiting their participation.SDD is also IMPRESSIVELY organized. They are excellent communicators and make directions/instructions straight-forward and easy to understand, without the need for multiple emails resulting in confusion. The biggest difference I can see is in the way my daughter and the other dancers move, with more energy and jubilation as they perform. My daughter feels welcome and at ease with the other dancers because the atmosphere is so welcoming.Thank you Chasta and Sara and all of SDD for all that you have given to my daughter, the SDD families, and the community at large. I have no doubt that we will be reaping the benefits of SDD long into the future as they reform the world of dance performance.
Chris Harbinson: Great recital performances under the special social distancing parameters.
Brooke Blankenship: SDD was a great experience for my girls. They teach a nice balance of fun and dance skills/ instruction for each age group. My girls loved it. We moved or we would have stayed!
Jamie Allen: This studio is unique! A place where every student is valued and taught how to dance and how to use dance to change the world for good! Teachers strike a good balance of striving for excellence while providing a nurturing environment. Each season brings the excitement of a benefit show and a recital. We love SDD!!
Melissa Barr: Can't say enough good things about this studio. We love that they offer classes at times that working parents can attend and the overall mission of the studio. All of the staff are amazing-- especially Ms. Haley. We've been here for two seasons and expect to be here for many more.
Ashton Neal: If you are looking for the perfect studio for your child, congrats! You’ve found it at SDD. My daughter started at the Brier Creek location in 2017 when she was a few months shy of 2 years old. She was in the little star ballet class and also did tumbling. I know you might think “okay, what can a two year old really learn other than how to be cute in a tutu.” They ARE absolutely adorable! BUT by the recital, my two year old knew her whole routine and performed it on stage! While we were a part of the stage door dance family my daughter was diagnosed with autism. I didn’t tell the teachers about her diagnosis because it wasn’t necessary. They already loved my daughter and catered to her unique needs and personality perfectly! Ms. Jana is the tiny dancer whisperer and even the most shy and separation anxiety filled toddler (and parent) are walking back no problem after the second class! It’s also great for older kids! All of the teachers are amazing and work with your dancer to help them reach their goals. Your child will not only become a better dancer but a better human. SDD does a lot of work with the community and chooses at least one group to fund raise for on top of other community projects. We moved in April and finally found a new studio and it was hard because SDD is a hard act to follow. Just try it! Dance opened up my daughter’s world and gave her so much more than a cute outfit and a fun video to show at her graduation. But they are REALLY CUTE!
Niky Wooding: This is an awesome studio and dance family. My daughter began attending at 3yo while I was in law school. Not only was the studio understanding of my educational demands, but they foster an environment that the parents work together to help one another to navigate the dance world as many of us are novices to this environment. The recitals are phenomenal and professional, even those that don’t have dancers attended to watch the phenomenal talent grace the stage. The teachers harp on the importance of technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship- in both the dancers and parents and it shows. We ended up moving to Maryland, and I miss them greatly. Due to her dance technique from SDD, my daughter was selected for the competition team the following season at 5yo. No matter where we go, we will always be apart of the SDD Family. Thank y’all for everything.
Melissa Kierstead Reagan: I can't say enough wonderful things about SDD! My daughter has been dancing at the studio since 2011 and every year I'm amazed at her growth as a dancer and leader.Ms. Chasta is incredibly responsive and has created a curriculum that not only considers dance technique, but also key educational philosophies to help students thrive in all areas of life. The instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. From the caring support of Ms. Rachel with her two year old class, to Ms. Brooke's energy and encouragement, to Ms. Hayley's focus on ballet technique and strength conditioning, my daughter has received what she's needed at all ages/levels.I also recommend the intensive training program (ITP) and summer intensive series. Not only is my daughter receiving additional dance instruction and performance opportunities, but the leadership component (Girls Geared for Greatness) has made a significant impact on her role as a leader in the classroom and greater community. She has a new sense of confidence and interest in giving back to others that comes from being a part of the program. We've had an incredibly positive experience, and would highly recommend to any family considering dance for their child.
Wendy Harris: I have been taking my daughter to SDD for 3 years now! Mrs. Chaste and Mrs. Amy and all of their teachers are absolutely amazing. Your child will learn great dance technique as well as how to be a beautiful person on the inside. They deeply care for every child and it shows in how the children love them all. They are always very responsive to calls and emails! I look forward to seeing my daughter continue to grow at Stage Door Dance!
Anju Reshma Devanur: My 5 year old daughter has been learning ballet here for the dance season 2018-2019. She absolutely loves her lessons and her instructors. Amazing facility with amazing professionals. My daughter's progress as a little dancer is very evident when she shows off her new dance skills at home. Ms. Brooke has been a wonderful instructor and very affectionate towards her students. Ms. Chasta has been very communicative at every stage throughout. Absolutely love this place, registering my daughter again for the next dance season. And of course Ms. Cheryl is so warm and welcoming to the parents who wait out in the waiting lounge while the kids take their dance classes.
Awamary Khan: My girls have been dancing at Stage Door Dance since 2011. They started when they were 2 and 3 years old. SDD has taught them love and discipline for the arts. They absolutely love ballet, jazz, and tap because of the training they received during their time. We are now moving abroad and will miss the dedication, attentiveness, and Love they received at SDD. They had great teachers that instilled the love of dance. We have been looking heavily for a place that will offer the same qualities as SDD. Chasta is amazing, passionate and very accommodating. Ms. Brooke has been with them all they way. The studio is diverse and very inclusive. My girls always felt loved. We will truly miss our Raleigh SDD home. Thank you to all the teachers and Chasta! 💛
Scott: Our daughter's recital was last weekend, and it was wonderful. The recital was well run, and the owner was personally involved to ensure everything went smoothly. We've had two children attend classes here, and we've been very pleased with the professionalism and flexibility of Stage Door!
Reavyn Williamson: They are really good and take time to teach the dancers techniques behind the choreography
Zakiya Leggett: Both my daughters have attended Stage Door for multiple classes over the last few years. My youngest daughter really enjoyed the Acro class and developed very quickly although she only attended for part of the dance season. My oldest daughter has been enrolled in Acro, Ballet and Jazz and excelled tremendously in her skills during that time. She attended a summer dance program with a friend and excelled beyond the expectations of the teacher although it was only a week and I know it was due to her time spent at Stage Door.Chasta and Willis are very invested in developing a quality and nurturing environment for all the students and it showed on all levels of my daughters’ participation in the studio. We also participated in the Christmas parade and the end of year recital and it was extremely organized even though there were hundreds of participants. They definitely have a spirit of excellence in all that they do and it shows! I highly recommend Stage Door to anyone interested in a quality dance experience for their child(ren)!
Tonya Spivey: Another dance season is over for us after this great weekend at our 2016 recital at Stage Door. All the girls did an excellent job in all the performances. We have been with Stage Door Dance for 4 years and each year I have seen my daughter grow and improve in her dance techniques and stage presence. I think my daughter and others demonstrated this weekend what Mia Michaels said, "If you dance with your heart, your body will follow."We look forward to our continued association with Stage Door professional staff members and fellow dancers!!
Lauren Rainey: I had the absolute PLEASURE of seeing Stage Door Dance's recital yesterday morning and afternoon! I was in awe of the professionalism shown throughout the entire production. Every child was featured and danced with such joy and excitement!! I also was very impressed with the front of house staff and all of the teachers I came in contact with. Stage Door Dance is the place to be when it comes to professional dance training here in the triangle!!
Natasha Greene: In response to the owner’s comments defending the lack of diversity in the teaching staff. I don't really understand how some of your examples speak to a non-diverse teaching staff despite the diverse student body. But here we go --- After we got our costumes, you walked around looking at everyone’s costumes and responding to concerns. I’m not sure what it means that you enjoyed helping my child adjust their costume. Regarding the Christmas Parade -- Your husband asked in a public forum that anyone interested in participating in the Christmas Parade could pay money to do it. I walked to the window to pay the money and other parents did the same. Regarding pictures, I was not writing about any vacation pictures. I felt those were submitted by parents. I was writing about the pictures that were obviously taken during the practice classes. I would see your husband taking pictures during the classes especially when it got close to recital time and during holidays. These are the pictures that I was speaking about – practice pictures lack an overall diversity. One day (when our children were practicing with their costumes on – during an open practice) I asked him about it and he said that he takes pictures during the year to be used during the recital slideshows. Parents are not really taking pictures during practice sessions, because your company discouraged parents from entering the classrooms (which is fine because you want to remove practice distractions and a video is provided). Now, on to the excuse that all NON-MINORITY persons give when someone states you don’t have a diverse teaching staff to reflect the student composition. “no qualified applicants.” Huh? Are you saying that there aren’t qualified minorities able to teach various dance classes? Well, my daughter attends two dance studios and they both have minority teachers. If a diverse teaching staff was important to you, then you would advertise on sites that attract minorities. If a diverse teaching staff was important to you, you would ask programs that are clearly doing it…how are you able to attract minority teachers? If you need more helpful hints to increase diversity among your employees, please call me at any time. And again, I say it…call me anytime. I returned your phone call with a message (within 24 hours) stating I could be reached at almost any time. Now for the final point, I was unsure if you would be able to address my concerns, because it had occurred for multiple years. However, if we would have talked on the phone or met at any point over the last months, I would have provided an update to my review about your willingness to discuss my concerns. I absolutely feel that every business deserves a fair update. Apparently my being available to speak with you at most times and most days…isn’t really convenient for you at any time. With all this being written, I do hope you have increased diversity among your employees and the slide show continues to add production value and feature diversity. If both are true, all this dialogue was worth it and I wish the studio the best.
