Dog-Eared Books: what do users think?
Derek Kniffin: Very cute kids corner, but the adult books had a pretty limited selection, and the fiction wasn't split into genres, so it was hard to find what I was interested in. I saw there's work being done on a new section in the back, so maybe it'll be better then
Lilah: loved the atmosphere and the prices! Great customer service will definitely come again.
Manic mommaT: One of the best used book stores in town.
Angela Riddell: An excellent source of used books, most in very good/excellent condition. Employees are SO HELPFUL!
Meredith Hardin: The best used book store in Raleigh!
Sarah Sherrill: The people working were so kind when I went! The selection was amazing and you literally can’t beat the price. Shoutout to the nice lady working the checkout last weekend, she was so fun to talk to and was so helpful. I can’t wait to go back :)
DeAnna Palazzolo: Underrated little hole in the wall. I heard the books were $2ea but I didn't believe it. Sure enough, $2! I got so many books, and since they didn't have the book I was looking for they took down my name and what I was looking for in case they get it. This place was lovely, and I can't wait to return.
Kevin Carpio: A bibliophile’s haven! If you’ve been searching for a book you’ll probably find it here at a bargain. A quintessential local small business.
Louise Cottrell: Love this store! During the pandemic, I was collecting Newbery Medal and Honor books and they went above and beyond the call of duty by pulling out these specialty books and bundling them for me. Who does that? Wonderful people and great books for readers of all ages. Highly recommend.
Miranda Tjelta: Fast and friendly service, perfectly priced books. Dog Eared Books is always my first stop for second hand books!
Emily Miller: I used to shop here when I lived in NC pre-2020. The staff (and dogs) were very nice and helpful! I live out of state but still shop online to support them. Books are great quality and are always packaged with care!
Melissa Lin: There's a wide selection. My order arrived very quickly and the books look brand new!
Elana Hardesty: I randomly found this place while searching for books online and I’m so glad I did. Super easy to purchase books for pickup, great selection, and the staff is very nice! I’ll definitely be coming back.
Alex Chu: Says they do in store shopping, but they're never open. I don't know why I keep trying to shop here, I always leave due to a locked door.
samantha y: Great selection of used books. Staff is always super friendly and helpful
Daniela Alldredge: Didn't realize online ordering only. Actual store closed permanently to public. Disappointing.
Ben Brown: The store isn't open anymore. There's a sign on the door indicating that you can shop online.
Clarence Dillard: A very cool little book shop! They've moved to online only. But they still have occasional in-store shopping days. Need an appointment. Check out their Amazon store!
DONALD JEFFERYS: Cheep books and nice women
Hannah Taylor: Stephanie at Dog-Eared is a gracious owner. I live in California and when I was accidentally given a gift card to this NC shop instead of my local Dog Eared (not related), she gave me a full refund.I learned how to shop at local bookstores like hers through Amazon, so even if you aren't local, you can shop used and support this small business with convenience. Thanks to her kindness, I will definitely try to purchase from this shop in the future!!
Michael Hrivnak: Great service, easy pickup, amazing price. I was looking for a particular business/tech book, and they had it for a few bucks. It is in brand new condition and has obviously never been read. Thanks!

Reader's Corner Inc: what do users think?
Andrew Pappas: Great selection, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Reasonable prices
Modern Bobber: Love this place! It's a fantastic place to buy affordable used books. They also have vinyl records, comics and graphic novels.
Margaret Griffith: Best store. We'll organized.
A E: I remember going here when I was in middle school. I discovered Calvin and Hobbes in the corner. We would go twice a week before picking up my sister at ballet and i have fond memories of the place. We’re in a strange culture currently. some people want to ban books. I’ve never known anyone to be damned for reading too much, but rather it is for our lack of reading that we narrow our imagination and lessen our intelligence. Even the worst books are easily remedied by a better book thereafter. In the debate of books vs. ban… bet on books, every time.I don’t understand that the mentality of looking around at all the problems in the world and thinking to onself: You know who the real threat to American democracy is?Librarians. In the wee hours of the morning after the bars close you can purchase the 25 cent to the left or the 10 cent to the right. The Readers Corner has good quality surprises in the $.25 section. I got a bird song book and a military history book at 3 AM in the morning. $.50 for the two.
Bill Lowder: Lots and lots and lots of books!
A Carey: You never know what you'll find here! Awesome atmosphere.
Bill Albing: Knowledgeable staff, great selection of books inside, fun collection of cheap books outside. Booklovers welcome. Always helpful and courteous.
Yasmeen Bynum: Parking was easy with the parking lot. They had a good flow of people in and out. Book prices were reasonable. The staff was great! The store is interesting with more then just books. They had discount book outside. Love the place! I would return.
Juan Esteban Hoyos: There are a lot of options and pretty affordable
Freddie Joseph: By far my all-time favorite used book store! This place is a little hidden gem right by NC State. I used to come here as a student and had many wonderful suggestions by the staff on what to read next. Totally JAM PACKED with books of all kinds!
Marsha Adkins: They know their stuff! Good, smart people.
Richard Potter: Incredible store with sections for pretty much any genre you can imagine. I zeroed in on the horror section and found some GREAT stuff that is long out of print. The prices were great. I will definitely be back!
Garrett Camfferman: Good selection
Teal Lepley: A fantastic used bookstore with great prices. It’s got so much character and history. Selling books is easy and you get decent money in return—especially if you choose store credit instead of cash.A note, however: it’s an older building and space is cramped inside. While it has curb ramps and a wheelchair accessible entrance, the inside is definitely not wheelchair accessible. Even when I had a cane, it was difficult to navigate—honestly, it gets cramped in there easily in the weekends for everyone.Definitely visit earlier in the day or during the week, it’s worth it!
Ladystardust04: There is a large selection and it’s a cool place worth visiting. I’ve found some good books BUT I will tell you- for a used bookstore, they really overprice the books. I was shocked at the prices of books that weren’t even in good condition. The aisles are ridiculously small- it can be really hard going through them sometimes even with just 2 people trying to browse the same isle or get around each other. But there is a ton of stuff to browse through and find cool stuff. I kinda get weird and pretentious vibes from the staff. But overall I only get books from used bookstores so I do still support and visit them regardless of what I find to be some downfalls. It’s overall still a cool bookstore.
Laura Gearhart: One of my dons favorite places. Always finds what he us looking for
Kylie Winchester: I love the atmosphere of the store. All of the workers are nice. Tons of options for books
JJ S: Super fun store to browse. Always something unique. The staff are so friendly and kind. It’s a local treasure.
David Robinson: Wonderful selection of books, inside and outside. The outside books are 10cents one side, and 25cents the other. I rarely leave without seeing something interesting and buying it!
Charles Sasser: Amazing niche in Raleigh to find your favorite reading material or music. The outdoor selection of books, magazines, and music/video (music/video during store hours and the other 24/7) can be a source of excitement of finding certain gems during the thrill of the hunt. These items are super bargains and just drop your money in the slot. The money goes to a great cause- NPR.
Duncan “Scotte”: If you want books at great prices come here

Mr. Mike's Used Books: what do users think?
J C: Decent selection but don’t dare ask a question because the manager has a nasty attitude. Would not recommend going.
Jim Spilios: Good selection. Well organized.
Lisa S: Very very low prices, which is awesome, but inventory is very very little. Very small, "cozy" spot. I know they maybe can't control their inventory idk, lots of novels and fiction, if that's your genre then maybe that's 4 stars..I'd like a personal growth section.I recommend you go, but check inventory by phone before you go. you get lucky sometimes
Lynn Canada: So nice to go in a used book store so well organized. And books arranged alphabetically. So you can go with a specific list or just look around and be surprised.Staff consistently pleasant and helpful.Have found numerous books to read.Last visit saw quite a few Outlander and Game of Thrones pb. :)
Rob Morris: Great selection of many subjects. I even sold some books. Much better return if you take store credit!
Maria Reier: Went to sell books, won't go back again. As other reviews state, older female clerk in charge of buying books was not friendly and laughed at me when I asked how long it would take for her to get to my books. At least 20 piles/bags/boxed of books were left all over the floor right at the front door, she told me to put mine in line, no explanation of process or timeframe, I felt like an inconvenience not a customer. I took my books, won't go back I'd rather just donate them.
Alex Luboff: Great selection and a wonderful place to spend some time browsing and perusing every aisle.
M Champ: Decent collection of used books. I'd love to have some seating so I could spend more time, but that is a luxury. If you're a reader, you must check this location out!
Kenneth Freeman: I love this place. I was devastated when Ed McKays closed, but finding Mr. Mike's has been great. I drive all the way from Spring Hope to get there. My experience buying and selling books has been great every time.
Robert de Graaf: Huge selection, with "new" used material coming in all the time.
Leif Kvarnes: Great little bookstore, one of the few in the triangle. Good prices, but somewhat limited selection. About half the store is mystery and romance, but they have a good children's section.
AL Pendergraph: Huge waste of time, i spent over a 60.00 dollars and they only gave me 8.00 for the books they took.
Gnarly Johnny: This is a great store where I have found many good books I didn’t know existed that I loved. Great selection. However, I went in today and it smelled like someone died and it made me walk out not even a minute after walking in. I threw up outside and the smell stuck in my nose for 30 minutes after leaving. Wax melts do wonder's so use those.
Ladystardust04: Love going here. Great selection, fair prices, well organized, and super nice staff. If you’re selling books, come during the week when it’s not busy. They usually take almost everything I bring in to sell and you get a good amount of store credit, but if you want cash it won’t be a lot back. So, just something to consider.
Brittany Francis: This is absolutely the BEST used bookstore in the triangle! I am here multiple times a week, and their inventory changes daily. Prices are fair (on average around $2.99 per book, a bit more for newer books, popular books, or really good condition books, sometimes less for more worn out copies). I feel like I can get a lot for my money, and there is always something new for me to grab because they get new stock in every day. This is in part due to their trade in program; trade in books to get store credit! It is always so busy to trade in your books because a lot of people come by with trades every day, but this also means there are constantly new books! I love this bookstore and highly recommend you give it a try!
Alex Davis: Great used book store! Ive been to almost all in triangle area and this one is one of the bigger ones. They have a ton of books. They don’t have quite as many super popular ones as other stores, but that’s not uncommon when it’s exclusively used. The prices are reasonable. We love to go in and walk out with 5 or 6 books each. We go there every month or so to check it out. Would recommend!
Wayne Johnson: Nice to way to keep books in circulation. But back options are cash or store credit. Good selection of used books to peruse.
Elizabeth Stephenson: Years past, we had sold books here. We didn’t feel ripped off and all was well.In the past few weeks, we took in two big loads of good books, and got embarrassingly low prices. We won’t ever buy or sell here, again.Quality down the toilet. What a shame.
Tree: Nice selection of books. Well organized and reasonably priced
Cornelis J van Dijk: Found a great book, will be back
Julie Martha: I just left here for the first time! I think it’s a really nice store. The associate working was very friendly. There’s a decent selection of books, they’re organized properly, and the store is clean. I’ll definitely go back for more books.

Nice Price Books & Records: what do users think?
Andrew Pappas: Cozy atmosphere with great record selection and good book selection.
Chris Toohey: Q. An ad a
Ladystardust04: Really cool place and I’ve found great stuff here. It’s not super cramped like a lot of other stores like this are- there’s lots of room to browse the books. It’s in a great location too!
Rasheeda Etheredge: Great store. Good selection of albums and books. Friendly service. I will definitely return
Michael Nelsen: An unbelievable store and very friendly staff.
Kofax Kofax: I went in there the other day and all three of the employees were wearing these scary-looking medical masks. It wasn't Halloween, so I'm guessing they must have some kind of contagious disease (?). Did not make me want to shop there!
Royo Drawinz: This is my favorite record place in the triangle area, i have spent probably hundreds of dollars in this store. I was here saturday and 2 saturdays before that ( im kindoff a regular) and i will say its been PACKED. Maybe im just used to it during covid and before everyone knew about it (it had the best comfy chairs!) But woah. A lot of people which: is good that they get there money but its bad for me because it takes awhile to get to where you want to dig! But i always walk out with atleast 40 dollars worth of stuff and everyone is always very friendly! When it isnt busy its one of my favorite places to be. Go get some records and give them more money because they deserve it!
Adam Sumner: Great selection, nice prices ;)
Captainblackleg: One of the greatest places on earth. Feels like a rainbow always shines on this little shop
Madissen Keys: Just such a fun place to go to on campus. I love picking out their DVDs, and they obviously put real care into the causes they promote, such as the Prison Books Collective.
Eddie Lassiter Jr: A great selection of music CDs. Although physical media seams to be all but gone, thanks to places like this you can still indulge. Good selection of blu-rays and DVDs also. Friendly staff.
Naomi Roslyn: Small space but packs a punch! Really awesome and well-sorted record collection. New and used. Not a ton of used books but fair prices and interesting sections.
Anne M: Great store. Everything a used bookstore should be - nice selection of vinyl, CDs, DVDs, VHS, as well as, of course, books. If you are looking for some hard-to-find science fiction paperbacks (or hard cover) they might have them here. I brought in some things to sell, and the bookseller was fast and friendly, quickly sorted my things, checked the quality and I feel gave me a very fair cash price for what he chose to buy. Conveniently located near NC State with that "college town" vibe that those of us who are older still enjoy very much. Quite a few people sitting outside eating at the place next door on the lovely fall day of my visit.
Collin Yates: Awesome selection of records, books, and a whole bunch of other interesting stuff.
Burdy M: I really liked the store wish it was cleaner and more organized…I bought an Ari Lennox album in the plastic went to play it for the first time freshly peeled off plastic and it was scratched on both sides…tragic
Paul Fowler: Not much for used records. A ton of new stuff though and a decent second hand book collection. Public restroom would have got them 4 stars.
Jake Cochran: Definitely my favorite record store. Loads of new stuff, good deals on used stuff, nice people working there that’ll help you look for something. There are a lot of record store options in Raleigh and most of them are good for different reasons but Nice Price does everything very well. Unfortunately I can’t speak to the used book section of the store but I’m sure it’s nice too.
23ethan23: Nice employees and good selection of books movies and cds
Ryan Williams: The smell of old books and the varied assortment of music and literature makes this place a must return. My son and I have found all manner of cds and tapes and books to keep us entertained for hours, since he got a functional tape deck and cd player I forsee many hours and many dollars spent in this fine little store.
Gavin McGuinn: Nice quaint store perfect for finding a new read.
Lisa Lindsay: Great selection of used books and records!

Homeschool Gathering Place: what do users think?
Katy Willett: They were quick. The process to consign seems pretty straightforward. Will see how this works out!
Tanya Harned: An absolute gem of a place. The HGP is worth the drive. They recently expanded their space and now it feels more inviting to hang out and take your time. The store is divided into new and consigned and has a cozy section with a table and comfy chairs for their consigned reading books (and the best part is that there are books for all ages, including board books for my toddler). They also have games and manipulatives of all sorts. Definitely plan on spending a good chunk of time here as this place has so many options. I absolutely love the HGP and am so thankful that homeschool families in the area have this resource.
Nicole Richardson: Great place
C Toney: Great place to purchase homeschool supplies. You can also bring your used homeschool books here to sell. I sold several things here - very easy! Friendly, knowledgeable staff with a expansive variety of all things related to homeschooling.
Sandra Graham: Love this place. Great deals. Friendly staff.
T Nicole: The Homeschool Gathering Place is a rare gem! The staff go out of their way to answer questions, assist with finding materials and they offer wonderful informative classes. There’s nothing like it around the Raleigh area! It’s such a blessing to be able to see curriculum before you buy it, consign what you no longer use and find items you didn’t even know you needed! ☺️
Lucia Doss: Wonderful environment! Clean restroom.
CT Wright (Mandy): Lots of materials, subjects, and age/grade levels to choose from. Clean and organized.
Laura Williams: Best place to find new and used curriculum, and other fun stuff to supplement your lessons. Make sure you have time to spend in here, they have so much to offer that it really takes time. I absolutely love this store and if you haven't had the chance to go, make sure you visit soon!!
Amy Flaherty Sheppard: So many curricula to look through to find just the right fit for your child. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and they have many used materials available on consignment.
Kristin George: A must for homeschoolers in the Triangle!
Elizabeth Thill: I recently discovered this shop and I’m so thrilled! The store is perfectly organized, the staff is friendly and helpful, they have new & gently used consigned items for homeschoolers of all ages. Everything from full curriculum to games, books, and more. They are very reasonably priced and answered all of my new homeschool mom questions. I’ll 100% be back and highly recommend!
Rylee Fischer: Do you guys have payment as checks
Jessie Bright: First time visitor ... WILL be back!Everyone was so incredibly helpful at the Homeschool Gathering Place. We are at the very start of our homeschool journey - still testing the waters and seeing if it is a good fit for our family. When we came in, one of the ladies working immediately showed me where the playroom was for my two sons. They were too timid to go play alone while I looked, so she offered to have them sit in a couple comfy chairs and look at picture books. She kept them in her sight while somebody else explained how the store was laid out. After I found where I needed to be, I was able to browse in peace and pick out some great options for us. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I felt less like I was getting sold items and more like I was talking to someone on this journey with me, which was incredibly encouraging. The store itself was clean, easily accessible, and very laid back. The curriculum, both new and consigned, was all well organized. The consignment selection was great - both well-priced and well-stocked.We will be back when we need higher level curriculum! Thank you for helping us get started!
Fahad Rajput: Best place to get kids curriculum books. They have a wide selection and knowledgeable staff to help you choose.Thank you.
Joy Bailey: There are no words for how much we appreciate this gem of a store. Even though we do not homeschool it is such a great resource for supplementary materials and a treasure of used books like devotionals and bibles. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.
J F: I love The Homeschool Gathering Place. The staff there is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Kimberly Lyle: Great store, friendly and helpful staff! They surprisingly had everything but 1 book that I wanted last minute and many used/more affordable options along with an entire new section. Good for any homeschool curriculum, including Classical Conversations material! You may even meet a super helpful parent to give you additional advice and ideas like I met, while shopping. I will be back for many more trips!
Alicia Schimmel: Mr. Mark was very pleasant. He gifted my girls free small animals. They were very understanding and patient with my upset two year old. The whole staff was very calm and nice about the noise. I love everything they offer in that store. Will definitely be back!!!!
Tim Seaton: Staff is amazing! I was driving from GA to buy curriculum each summer and now live closer. Worth the drive!
Derek Cladek: Great place to buy and sell books. Our kids love coming here and picking out new books for their library. They have something for all ages of kids. Liked the back play room for our 3 yr old.

Textbook Brokers North Raleigh: what do users think?
Helen Aregawi: I had rented book from this location and when I come by to return the store is closed and I called the number but no one picked.
Joey Tunney: They might as well change the name of this place to “no value on it” because that’s all they ever tell you. Do not waste your time here, it’s the GameStop of Wake Tech Books.

Spyridon Scott: Great Art! Friend of mine has some work there!
Alison Fontenot: While in the area to visit my parents, we stumbled on Read To Me after a trip to Marbles and lunch downtown, and so glad we did! We only got to scratch the surface of this wonderful store, but felt so comfortable reading a few books with our littles before picking out some to purchase. Thoughtfully designed store with books for youngest readers on the bottom shelves, and the selection was great - I loved discovering booksfor the kiddos we may not have come across elsewhere. Will definitely be back whenever we visit Raleigh!
Amy Henkenius: Great selection, well organized, and friendly staff!
Eyal Greenberg: Great variety of books, organized by age (each age group in a different level so kids can browse by age and books will be approximately at their height - kind of genius!)Store owner is very nice and friendly! All in all - GREAT experience! Highly recommend!!

Sean Caye: Great space, helpful staff, and a good collection of children's books
Terri: Very inviting book store. Diverse book selection representing all voices. Children and parents will find interesting reads here! Owner and staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
s: This place is awesome! When they were contacted about myself and my partner painting murals on the sidewalk across from them, the shop owner Christine went above and beyond to support our project by offering us access to their space for storage of our supplies and other needs. We painted for almost 3 weeks and could not have finished our project without this shops support. They are REALLY here for the community. The owner is extremely kind and generous. On top of this, they have a fantastic array of books for children AND adults (in the back). I bought a book on "they" pronouns for my mom and my dad bought a book on conversations about race. They also have awesome art, and art supplies for beginners! The store is incredibly cute, kid friendly, and well-stocked. Even though I am an adult, it's my new favorite bookstore. The selection is very diverse and the staff is knowledgeable and can inform you about anything they have stocked. They also have a lot of really unique graphic novels.
melissa graham: Fantastic bookstore!
Eboni Williams: My family and I visited Raleigh for the first time. Read With Me was on our downtown bucket list and we stopped in after breakfast. This is a beautiful store front filled with carefully selected books for children of all ages. There’s also a few reading nooks for kids, an art section, and an adult corner. Great job on a much needed space!
Christine Martin: Read With Me sponsored one of my scavenger hunts. Their contribution to the gift baskets was very generous. In addition, they were easy to work with and very responsive. I can tell by how they interacted with me, they have a very caring business. Plus their bookstore is beautiful inside. Check them out!
Erik Solberg: Great little book store with a nice variety of books in a great atmosphere. A must-visit if you’re in the Raleigh area!
Jean Knepley: Charming small shop with a wonderful selection. Very friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit again.
Nancy Shepard: Cute shop. Knowledgeable owner. Good selection of books for kids

So & So Books: what do users think?
Susan Campbell: Shop local for your books! Tailored selection of books that offer a mix of the hot, current reads along with the classics. Staff was welcoming and ready to help with any inquires. Found on the corner of a small shopping center across from Two Roosters.
Crystal The Wolf: Nice and cold inside, great collection including queer and trans books, nice employees
Jerimee Richir: My favorite bookstore in Raleigh
Anna Kurtz: A lovely locally-owned bookstore in downtown Raleigh. It has a bright and airy feel, but cozy and quiet at the same time. Small selection of vinyl and jigsaw puzzles as well. Special ordering an out-of-stock book was easy and it arrived quickly. I like that they have a few parking spots out front, too.
Mike M: I have been twice, and both times, the guy up front was helpful. The shop is very clean, spacious and has a very calming atmosphere. Support your local bookstore!
Anurata Hridi: Nice little book shop. Cordial staff.
Sallie Thompson: This bookstore is a gem. Great selection of books. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. They always have what I'm looking for and suggestions for what to read next.
Lillian: great selection of books by diverse authors of various genres. Really cool local finds, too. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Kids section available
Hannah Braswell: I absolutely loved my experience at So & So. It is such a quaint, eclectic, and genuine book loving vibe when walking around the store. I really loved the selection and it is organized in such a beautiful way! They sell awesome gifts as well.
John: Very cute bookstore with an overall nice vibe and aesthetic. The guy behind the desk was helpful but I was only looking around really. Not a huge selection of course but what they have is great. Decent size kid's section with some vinyls as well.
Richard O'Brien: Shopped local for the holidays and found several wonderful gifts for our young adult children.
Laura Thrower: Love this book store! Every year my friends and I do a “secret Santa” exchange there, (we browse and buy on the spot from an anonymous questionnaire of likes and dislikes we craft ahead of time) and Charles has always been so accommodating and knowledgeable! The shopping vibe is great, selections are carefully chosen and such a variety! I know it’s easier and sometimes slightly cheaper to buy online, but this retail experience makes getting out and touching, previewing and buying well worth it! Grab and couch, and a read and support local!
Jacob Winters: Cute shop with a good selection of books. The person that runs the place had a good conversation with me
Nacchianti The Wine Fairy: So&so guys were so accommodating to our group for a book reading. The venue was great! The selection was great!
Shaun Bennett: A carefully curated bookstore which encourages discovery of unknown, fantastic materials.
Larry Sherrill: some say the collection is small, but I prefer to say it’s well-curated. give me that over a book superstore any day.
Maria G. Martinez: I just love this store and all their events and classes
Jtwob Jgood: Great job and experience
Michelle: the best bookstore in the city!!
Dan Hooker: If you're looking for a great selection of books this is not the place to go. They effectively have books on one wall of the store. Yes, one wall.... What about all the rows and rows of books in the middle of the store? There are none. After browsing the books for a few minutes I got back in my car and wondered why this place had such great reviews. (I originally looked at the star rating only).Turns out people love this place due to their hosting of book clubs and poetry reading. Seems to be more of your trendy hang out spot to socialize at than to move books. If that's your thing then this is probably the place for you. If your just after a good selection of books I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
Gabriela Martinez: Super cute and gorgeous, incredible selection. Looks empty ITS NOT its just big lmao.

Books Do Furnish a Room: what do users think?
Michael Snipes: I’m 51 and I’ve bought comics here since I was 21. If you’re not willing to dig to look for stuff or are looking for an Ultimate Comics kinda experience this ain’t your place. They also have used books and music as well. I love talking to the folks that are still there since the first day I walked in. They’re good hardworking folks. Stop by buy some books and have a chat. It will be worth your time every time. Don’t be afraid to dig and take your time.
Aaron Boyd: Great bookstore. Lost of used books
Tod Gemuese: WONDERFUL used book shop. Open 7 days a week, and with a great selection of new and old used books. I'm particularly a fan of their great collection of old SciFi pulps!
Karoline Stephens: Decent selection, prices are okay but the people behind the counter? I have rarely received a colder shoulder in my life. And I'm from Germany, so that's saying something.
RR M: Please visit! So so many books and amazing prices! Doesn’t look much from outside and you won’t regret it once you get in!
Jim Shea: Fun, funky collection with loads of SF and a very good fiction collection.
Huarui Zhou: This bookstore is wonderful!I really like the old CDs I bought, they have very good quality and was produced in 1990s,nearly 30 years old, really reminding me of my childhood listening CDs in front of radio! The stuff is also so nice and friendly!
Bruce Gibson: Had a Great selection of Books to choose from. Nice old store. Looks messy but I like that look in a used stores. Gives it charm like a family place. Not like you need to be afraid of breaking anything. The gentleman there was Great and helpful.
Santosh Dash: An awesome used bookstore .. rightly priced with many old and antique books .. must stop by in Durham
Clarence Dillard: Really cool little place. Great assortment of used books and vtnil. But the reason I keep coming is their comic book section. The best Indy section in Durham. Awesome discount graphic novels and much more. The staff are super friendly and helpful. A true hidden gem. I love them!
Renee McKinnish: Found only a few CDs in R & B section and absolutely no Hip Hop. Plenty od Blues and Jazz though, so that's good.
M G: After recently watching the documentary "The Booksellers" (which I highly recommend), I got the old itch to lose myself in the dusty shelves of an old used book store, something I've always loved but haven't done since well before the pandemic. This one is the closest to me so thought it a good place to start. It is indeed dusty and shabby and has lots of character. As is usually the case, though, I was pretty disappointed that two of my favorite topics (and often the only topics I peruse thoroughly or at all in any bookstore) - Mythology/Folklore and Occult - were very sparsely represented, each with many labeled but bare shelves. Meanwhile the Christianity section was overflowing. Guess it just goes to show that I'm still in a minority and that this is still, sadly, the "Bible Belt". Though I recall Readers' Corner, in Raleigh, having much better selections of both. Durham needs to get with the times and broaden its horizons.I was happy to find two unique titles that jumped out at me and were both very relevant to my current life situation and interests, and both were in great shape (and one a hardcover), which was why I didn't mind paying just a touch more than I had guessed I would be. I also greatly appreciated seeing, and was briefly tempted by, some very old (well over 100 years) volumes and books in foreign languages, German in particular.I would visit again but I'd very much like to see more variety and more titles in certain topics that are almost always underrepresented. Also, many of the labels on the shelves desperately need to be replaced, as they are torn in half and make browsing and locating topics unnecessarily difficult. Also the labels spelled "Judiaca"...
Shaquana Barnes: Only giving it the stars because of book variety. Did not feel welcoming.
Donielle Vestal: Hotter than hades inside, no A/C. Couldn't stay inside for more than a few minutes, felt like I was going to pass out. Male oriented, nothing there for a female shopper. Really disappointed.
Sue Utt: Very different
Matt May: Building is in poor condition. Hot as Hades inside, I had to leave it was so hot. Proprietor/clerk did not greet us when we entered.
Jason Vandewater (Jason V): No AC and it was to hot to enjoy.
David Hunt: Been going there for 30 years, best store of its kind in Durham
Nathan Godsey: Organization was off in selection of books. Prices were fair, considering cost of living and it being an independent bookstore in the heart of Durham. The exterior of building really reminds you not to judge a book by its cover as the interior of the building had all these great selections of books :)
Melissa McBride: A friend suggested this for old manga floppies and it delivered. A surprisingly large selection of older alternative comics. A really nice place to browse for anything that might strike your fancy; the owner was very nice. I love stores like this.
Erik Deckers: If you love searching through old books to see what treasures you can find, this is a great bookstore for you. Plenty of old books, pulp novels, and even comic books. Definitely a must stop for the Intown visitor, and a regular visit for the locals.
