Kyle & Taylor Marker: We were looking for a venue where everything was all-encompassing and came across 1705 East...it was perfect! The venue is beautiful, location is convenient, and the fact that food and drinks are all combined with the venue through Rocky Top Catering, made everything so easy! We worked with both Quann and Karlee, and both were incredible and very quick to respond to any questions we had throughout the process.
Blane Rice: Wonderful place for wedding event and rehearsal dinner! Service was outstanding atmosphere was very good and the food was delicious! What more can you ask for? Very satisfied! Vicki is awesome!

Kristen Whitney: We had our ceremony and reception at 1705 and it was hands down the best experience! 1705 is a true GEM in the Raleigh area. It is accessible, convenient and beautiful! It is one of the few venues that offers catering (by the renown Rocky Top), bar service and a separate indoor ceremony/reception space and cocktail hour space. With 1705 we did not have to worry about catering, flatware, bar service, tables/chairs, cake cutting service, etc etc. It was all included in the venue, which is extremely rare compared to the long list of venues I evaluated! Even better they have a fully functioning kitchen so our food came out fresh and warm and boy did we get so many compliments on it from our guests!! They can easily accommodate indoor and outdoor weddings, something that was very important to us as we were getting married in December. But I’d be remiss to not mention one of my favorite parts of 1705, and that’s Quann Bradley. He is hands down the BEST venue manager I have ever encountered. He is flexible, easy to work with, fun, honest, and I could go on and on! I hope Rocky Top knows how much of a STAR they have in Quann! He worked tirelessly to make our day go perfectly and had waiters following my husband and I around to ensure we were fed and able to enjoy drinks during our cocktail hour and reception. He is just so amazing and I felt so lucky to work with him. I couldn’t have imagined our perfect day anywhere other than 1705. It is a RARE GEM in the Raleigh area. Thank you Quann and the RT staff for making our day incredible!

Taylor: Unfortunately have been trying to get in touch with 1705 for the last few weeks to get our site visit rescheduled and it has been nothing but a hassle.The day of our tour I was emailed a few hours in advance in regards to a reschedule (was already on the way so didn’t check my emails) and when arrived nobody was there. No phone call was made when I didn’t respond to email. Mind you this was the day of. It was really frustrating. Have been trying to reschedule a visit for weeks and the communication has been extremely poor. The catering company, Rocky Top, are the only ones who were responsive in a reasonable time manor. I gave up after not hearing back from Karlee or Quann once again.

We worked with Quann Bradley who went above and beyond our expectations to ensure that everything went according to plan. Quann was there for any questions we had and responded in a timely fashion. Quann was attentive to details and was a very big help. The service there was exceptional, food was great and it was overall a good time had at 1705 East. The staff was friendly and engaged. We couldn’t have asked for anything else.

skylar coley: I truly wish this experience with RTC was as good as what we paid for. We’ve been in contact with Rocky Top Catering for at least the last two years. I have been super excited to use their venue 1705 East as well as have a delicious meal prepared by their amazing chefs. Our original wedding date was 5/31/2020. Naturally, we had our menu selected, invitations sent, and our expectations set extremely high by our coordinator Kayla Miles. Once COVID hit, we made the decision to move our wedding back to 8/23/2020. We had to make serious cut backs to our guest count and were given strict guidelines to follow to stay compliant with COVID-19 regulations. After being handed off to the sales director, Carol Sasseen, I was nervous but hopeful the experience would still be pleasant regardless of the lack of communication from her or really anyone else on the staff, after we lost Kayla. Venue looked great. Everything was going fine until I realized the plate I was served contained none of the items I selected, paid for, and signed off on. I tried to be polite, because it was my wedding day and told Carol everyone was eating it and seemed to like it although it wasn’t what we selected. Today 8/24, I reached out to Carol and told her I was extremely disappointed with what happened. Sent her all of the email correspondence between myself and Kayla after deciding on the menu, and even provided photo evidence of the menu that was approved and signed by Rocky Top Employee, Kayla Miles. Asked her to call my husband to discuss what would happen from here. Carol stated to my husband she sent me a proposal that I “didn’t look at” signing off on the food that was served. My records indicate that the proposal I was sent highlighted the changes made to my guest count, number of tables and so forth. After looking deeper into my correspondence, Carol evidently thought the sample menu that was provided to me by Kayla Miles to help my Husband and I understand how a typical menu is laid out, was in fact what we selected. She told my Husband it was my fault and refused to do anything about the mistake that was made. We didn’t ask for all of our money back, we just said “hey we paid 2600$ for the food we selected based off the many tastings we attended and you didn’t provide the service we selected and paid for.” I am extremely disappointed with the customer service here and the lack of accountability by the staff. I understand COVID has provided financial burden to everyone including vendors like RTC. However, we paid OUR hard earned money to have the kind of wedding we wanted. We’ve contacted our lawyer and I hope someone from RTC decides to return my husbands call so we can discuss what happens from here.

Anna McNeary: We went with CE for our DIY backyard wedding. I’m picky about aesthetics and also wanted to place a single rental order with one company, so I spent some time looking around at different companies to find the best balance of wide selection and affordability. Curated events has beautiful furniture, linens and tableware in a range of price points and styles. We were able to rent everything from them, from tent to champagne flutes to coffee percolator. Alyssa was our point of contact and helped us look around their showroom to make some initial choices, and was so helpful and patient as we worked to finalize our order. I’ll also say that their setup and breakdown teams were efficient, hardworking and knowledgable. I’d definitely recommend them as a great option for anyone getting married in the Triangle!
Kyle & Taylor Marker: Alyssa at CE was a joy to work with! She was so friendly and informative during our visit, and was quick to answer any questions that arose leading up to our April 2023 wedding. We had our event at 1705 East and they dropped the linens off on Friday, and picked them up on Monday, so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. Highly recommend using CE Rentals for your wedding or next event!

Katherine Abel: Very disappointed with this company. Put a deposit of $3400 on a tent over six months in advance. Wedding was cancelled. Would not return any of the deposit money even though they had a six month notice and opportunity to rent it to someone else (which I assume they will since I was told clear tents are in demand). I understand the contract states non-refundable deposit but CE will now pocket the $3400 for doing absolutely nothing.
Nitasha Siddique: My planner at Harmony Weddings and Events recommended CE rentals and our visit to their showroom was a breeze. We got everything we were hoping for and the service was phenomenal - they handled changes to the order very quickly and everything arrived as planned. Loved their selection and wish I’d rented from them sooner since a lot of great items were already booked. In the photo, we rented the table clothes, napkins, cutlery, glassware and plates from CE.
Coleman Harris: Beware of their cancellation policy. Had to cancel a party due to an outbreak of Covid and we were charged fully for the rentals even though we called before materials were delivered.

We worked with Alyssa during our planning process and she was so great to work with. She always responded to any questions or concerns I had in a timely manner. Alia Capone: Curated Events has a wide array of options in a wide range of prices for linens, flatware, glassware, and dinnerware! It was fun going to the warehouse and putting together possible place settings with the various options. They are a trusted company in the Triangle and came highly recommended from our wedding planner. We used the company for linens and dinnerware/glassware/flatware. Alyssa was easy to work with, prompt in her communication, and great in-person when we went to sample items at the warehouse! The tables and place settings looked so elegant on our wedding day! Would recommend to anyone getting married in the Triangle!

Haywood Hall House and Gardens: what do users think?
Stephanie Milosh: Not only is Haywood Hall a lovely historic home, but it's a beautiful backdrop for smaller weddings. I had the opportunity to plan a 50 guest wedding at Haywood Hall, with the ceremony on the lawn in front of the house and a tent set up on the garden patio. The house is great for the wedding party to get ready, the back porch is perfect for a bar, and the gardens feel like magic. We're always happy to step into this beautiful venue!

So I couldn't have the 2020 event because of COVID-19. We went to court and she was told to pay back the money but she still refuses. I didn't know she was so hard up for money. So I contacted the owner 2months in advance to let her know and that I needed a refund. She refused to give me my money back. I took her to court and won of course and she still refuses. She lied in court and said I didn't pay my full amount and I have proof to show.. I will never use this Event Center ever again and I will be going public soon. I will be taking this to the news..

Lane Dunyak: My husband and I started taking ballroom dancing lessons a year ago at A Step to Gold. It has been one of the best things we have ever done. The instructors are professionals who communicate well and can teach students at all levels. They are very flexible to find a time for lessons that work best for their students. Not only does the cost include private lessons, but unlimited group lessons and dances to practice throughout the week. Melanie, the owner, also works hard to provide fun dance events and dinners to bring even more opportunities to learn and practice. Payment plans are available. Many of the students who come have been taking for years at A Step to Gold. The atmosphere is positive, encouraging and fun. During Covid--Melanie has worked very hard to provide her customers the best opportunities while operating under restrictions--like offering virtual lessons and dancing outside. Dancing is good for the soul and we always feel refreshed and happy after a lesson.

James Richardson: Melanie is and excellent instructor with a classy ballroom. She has helped me improve my techniques and added a variety of new dance moves to my training.
Jane R'Com: We rented the venue for my sister's wedding. Everything was very promising. Owner was very open to working with us as we come multiple times to plan our set ups. I am disappointed to say that the elevator broke down approximately a week before the wedding and nothing was done to get it fixed. Loading and unloading took twice as long to get done which delayed the reception. My great grandmother who is 99 years old, could not join us at the reception because she cannot use the stairs. Owner said that we should get her up anyway and call 911 to get her down later on, (how can that be said to an old person who's afraid to even walk).I hired people to decorate the place and have them stayed to clean up so my family don't have to do all the work. My sister who got married and her husband instead of going off on their honeymoon, stayed back until 1am to moved things downstairs because the elevator wasn't working and they felt bad for the decorating ladies who have to move boxes of heavy object down two flights of stairs. Owner provided a Matt and robes to lowered the decoration downstairs. She was not around and her worker brought the Matt and started asking us to put stuff in it. As he was lowering it, stuff came flying down and a couple objects was broken which cost me my $200 deposit fee to the decoration ladies. My family was careful to not break anything all night and in the end I still lost $200. Owner kept asking us to pay her worker for his help that we never asked for. My brother in law gave owner $50 for her worker's help because he rather just be done with it.We love to share our special day with people. However, it is lack of manner for food to be eaten from the table before the bride and groom even arrived at the venue. Our wedding director told me the owner and her worker had made do go plates while tables are being set.I have no doubt it is a great place for dance lessons, but as for big/special events such as ours, I feel like the owner should be more attentive in making sure their customers are satisfied, after all it is their big day. Money should never be more important than satisfied customers.We still tried to make the best out of what was available to us. We respect people and never want to bring negativity to anyone. I shared this so that changes can be done for people after us. I'm sorry I cannot give more than 1 star.
Mountain Girl: My husband and I have been taking dance lessons since March. It has been a very positive experience. The dance teachers here are highly trained and educated in dance, proper posture and fitness for dance. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time and plan to continue. Our goal is purely recreational, and it has been a great way to have fun together while getting some exercise. They also have a great stretch class open to students AND others.

Daisy Eklund: I don't usually post bad reviews, but I felt like I needed to with this experience. I am getting married in December and had my eye on the Cannon Room for a while. I set up a visit in December and from the start things were disoriented. It seemed the staff wasn't communicating because I set up a time to go visit then got a call from a different person about setting up a visit, then there was confusion on if I could even come visit that day.I did go visit, and although the venue is beautiful, I believe it is misleading. There was no way I could fit the amount of people I was inviting in there, even though I was told they could. There is only one room, so cocktail hour would have to be somewhere else. Also, the "bridal suite" was nothing more than a tiny square office room on the floor below that they "convert" into a bridal suite (whatever that means). As far as the visit goes, the person giving the tour had very little knowledge of the venue itself and expressed to us that he was "mostly catering." Overall, the "tour" felt rushed and I gained next to no insight from it.Now on to Rocky Top Catering. I eventually chose another venue and started to price out my catering options. Although my Cannon Room experience hadn't been great, I decided to contact Rocky Top because I had already spoken with them and I needed to price out options in the Triangle area. There is absolutely no information on pricing on their website, so the only way to find out is to call. When I got on the phone with the employee, it was rapid fire questions. When I told her my budget, the phone call was quickly over. She made me feel less-than for having a smaller budget, even though there was no way to know what they would charge without asking over the phone.This whole experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and I would suggest that if you want more than 50 people at your wedding and are on a budget, don't even bother with this place.

The best views of Raleigh with mix of city and nature out of the windows (which span 3 out of the 4 walls). The natural light, bar, and all of the amenities (includes tables, chairs, COUCHES, etc) really make it so simple for couples to focus on the other details of their day.2) The staff, wow, where do I even get started... they really helped this #RonaCouple figure out the best options with what we had available. Sarah is AMAZING. She's responsive and a blast to work with.3) As a budget-conscious bride, I felt like their pricing was super reasonable AND they have a recommended vendor list with vendors at different price points! You can also choose your own vendors not on the list as long as you get them approved!4) LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. It is within walking distance of great hotels and restaurants and parks, this place has got it all 3.

Whitney McMorris: The Cannon Room was truly the perfect wedding venue for my husband and I. We wanted our wedding to be classy and timeless, with a touch of fancy. The white walls and tall windows created the perfect vibe for us. There is a grooms suite and a bridal suite in the building which allowed for seemless transitions throughout the day. Our guest list fell right at 110, the room was full but not too crowded, and there was plenty of room on the dance floor for everyone to dance the night away!Christie was fantastic to work with and she truly made our vision come to life. She was so easy to communicate with and spent so much time with us to make sure everything was what we wanted. I highly recommend this venue.

JacQuetta Williams: Overall it was everything we expected for our baby shower. However, there were some issues during set up that left a bad taste in our mouths. As we were decorating and preparing there were a number of tours during the allocated rental time. One, in particular, was within minutes before the guest began to arrive. We found that to be insensitive and voiced it however it was overlooked. Also, it was not mentioned that we were expected to bring our own trash bags for clean up. That should be discussed during the initial contract of the rental. Moving forward I would expect more client sensitivity and communication to future renters. Again, this is a beautiful space however there is room for improvement as far as customer service is concerned.
Dennis Cullen: As a vendor who provides servers and bartenders and who works at multiple venues per year I can tell you The Cannon Room is one of my favorites. The space is open and bright with beautiful downtown views but what sets it apart is the staff who are accommodating, kind, efficient and will do what it takes to make your event amazing. Christie is at the top of her game when it comes to communication, coordinating and arranging the space to fit any size wedding or party.

Becky Brightman: 2 1/2 years ago our daughter interviewed wedding planners for her wedding in 2021 in Durham, N.C. We settled on Lauren Watson of Lion House. At the time we certainly did not know that the wedding would be rescheduled due to Covid and would take place on the day that Hurricane Ian was due to hit North Carolina.Against all odds her wedding turned out perfectly!Lauren hung in there with us over this very long time, helped us reschedule all of the vendors and made countless last minute changes due to weather.Our ceremony was to be outside but Lauren had many months ago insisted that we reserve a tent. THANK GOD!Also in the 48-72 hrs leading up to the wedding she was able to source lights and heaters for the tent as well as work with the florist to entirely decorate the tent!Although we were panicking she was not. (At least not that we knew of!)Our daughter had the most beautiful, perfectly executed wedding. Venue, band, photographer, flowers, hair and makeup were all perfect. All of the rentals from linens to tables, silverware were as she wanted. Even a last minute change to the fun Bourbon bar that was outside originally, turned out great!What no one tells you as parents is that you have to clean up all the stuff from the bridal party fun room after the wedding is over. Lauren was right there with us picking things up.Since we did most of our planning from Denver and Ohio we certainly could not have accomplished any of this on our own. Well worth the investment to have an excellent wedding planner.Thank you Lion House!
Rebekah Williams: Highly recommend Lionhouse for all your wedding planning needs!! We were referred to Lauren at Lionhouse through a friend who couldn’t stop raving about her services, and now I understand why! Lauren starts the planning process by providing so many valuable resources via Google doc, which (if you’re an overly organized gal like me) are SUPER helpful references during the whole process. My favorite was a monthly check list document to make sure we were always on track – it included everything! While Lauren was out on maternity leave, her partner Taylor stepped in seamlessly to ensure we didn’t miss a beat! Monthly check-in meetings with the team are so helpful/reassuring! Lauren, Taylor, and their team were an invaluable resource to us! Before the wedding planning process, I never realized how many different moving pieces went into just one day, but with the Lionhouse team, it was the most perfect day ever! I didn’t have to worry about a thing day-of, the style and design turned out just as (if not better!) than I imagined it, and it was truly magical. I’ll repeat – highly recommend!!
Melissa Wallace: Lauren was a super fun and outgoing planner! She was so easy to talk to and always answered any and all questions that we had promptly and thoroughly. We loved how honest she was with us about the ideas/vision that we had and whether or not it was doable with our budget which we really appreciated. If it wasn't doable, she always came up with a solution that we were beyond pleased with. And even when Lauren had to step away for a bit while on maternity leave, another Lion House planner, Taylor, stepped in and did a wonderful job keeping the ball rolling and accomplishing the tedious tasks we needed her to when crunch time came. Overall, we could not have had the romantic, beautiful, fun, and stress-free wedding day that we had without the Lion House team! I was completely capable of planning my own wedding, but I am MORE than thrilled that I decided to hire The Lion House to take over 2 months out and take care of everything day of. I met Lauren the day I bought my wedding gown as fate would have it, and she immediately made me feel calm, cool, and collected - what else do you need in a person who you will be planning your wedding day with!? We worked with her for almost a full year planning what became the best day of our lives. Christopher Nieto: I had the pleasure to work with Lauren from Lion House at the First Annual Unveil Raleigh event. As a photographer, I have done my fair share of fashion shows over the years. They are usually unorganized train wrecks and are probably my least favorite type of event to shoot. Unveil Fashion Show & Benefit was none of those things! From start to finish the event was perfect. The email communications, the planning meeting, the day of prep, were all handled professionally and efficiently. The event its self-was way beyond my expectations and blew all the guest away. The fashion show was fantastic and very inspiring. There are usually little hiccups in the flow of events that cant is helped, there weren’t even any of those. We started on time, the social media campaign was handled very well, and all the vendors she brought together worked together very well. The event is one that I can see only gaining in popularity over the years in the Raleigh area. I would highly recommend to my clients to use Lion House for their event planning. Lauren’s professionalism, eye for design and detail, and overall positive attitude are a perfect combination. I am looking forward to next years event.
