It was plenty of room to drape off the space during the flip without being too crowded.We decided to go with Empire Eats for catering - which got us a discount on the venue and the food was delicious. We did BYOB for alcohol - which was a huge money savings - we were very thankful for this option at Stockroom which we didn’t find at many other Raleigh venues.The staff was helpful and responsive throughout the planning process and during the event itself. Helping us with unique table layouts (as we had 16 farm tables), answer numerous questions, and helping our family/friends during set up and break down. The only thing we would have hoped was different - was getting to clean up our DIY decorations the following morning instead of the night of. This was a bit of a downer for our family who had to stay behind to clean up.The glass box is a great plus of this venue - we used it for the bridal party to get ready during the day, for pictures, and as an area for the flower girls to be babysat during the reception.

They assured you that these are the best of the best to ensure you have a quality experience. I chose Cake Couture and I had a HORRIBLE experience. When I shared my frustration with the stockroom didn’t really seem to care as the wedding was over and they were paid. If you rent this space. I would not recommend using cake couture.

Natalie Vick: We loved having our wedding at Melrose. The team provided top-notch service and was so accommodating. They truly ensured we and our guests had the most amazing experience.When you book your wedding at Melrose you also work directly with Souther Oak Events. We worked with Erika for our big day and she was amazing. She ensured our event was everything we imagined and expertly managed our wedding day so that we could have a stress free day and enjoy the experience. Catering and alcohol is provided through Melrose and Mulino's. Our food was incredible and our guests raved about it and the drinks. Our guests were greeted with our selected cocktail during our cocktail hour and the service during our reception was great. My husband and I felt like royalty on our wedding day because the staff was constantly checking on us and ensuring we had everything we needed. Neither of us had an empty glass the entire night and never even needed to go to the bar. Our guests complimented the service after our event as well. On top of the amazing service and food, the venue is so beautiful and well-maintained and in such a great location in Downtown Raleigh. The cocktail area outside around the pool was so cool and the only venue downtown that offers a space like this. The historic feel of the knitting mill is so charming and we loved that all the chairs and tables for the space were included in the rental package. We wanted to get married downtown Raleigh so our guests could have a true Raleigh experience. Our guests stayed at Longleaf across the street and were able to walk to Glenwood and to the Longleaf Lounge for afterparty fun. Highly recommend having your wedding or other event at Melrose. They provide the best value for your experience. You will not regret it!

We had originally planned a 2020 wedding and had to postpone until 2021, and Jessica Tilton was so helpful as our day of coordinator. She answered all my texts and emails the year(s) leading up to the day and made me feel confident and happy on the big day. We had our ceremony at sunset and the lighting was absolutely beautiful. I usually hate wedding food but the Melrose had such good food. Loved the little grilled cheese and tomato soup poppers at the cocktail hour! The only thing I’d change was having shot glasses at the reception bar, as I guess the bar staff wasn’t used to such a lit crowd lol. Otherwise the perfect venue!

Tara Clappison: I wish I could give Lacey from Southern Soirée a thousand stars! Lacey made our daughter’s wedding day perfect in every way. She planned and executed a perfect event. On the wedding day, she handled all the decisions and details with expertise and calm — so that mom and bride could just enjoy every moment of the day. Wherever we turned, Lacey was there with a smile and an answer. Highest recommendation!!!
Brittany Smith: The best decision we ever made for our wedding was hiring Elizabeth and the amazing Southern Soiree team. If I could, I would give more than 5 stars!! My husband and I re-met across the country in Washington State. Although we were stationed for the military in WA, we dreamed of having our wedding in Hillsborough, NC, our hometown where we first met. Planning a long distance wedding with a 3 hour time difference would have not been possible without Elizabeth. She happily arranged and attended venue tours & vendor design meetings on our behalf when we could not be present. When we were in town, she was available to all our needs and pre-planned an efficient schedule for us to fit in the most planning activities in a short amount of time.Additionally, when thinking of our dream wedding, we imagined the day being very personalized to our love story. After sharing our story with Elizabeth, she immediately came up with a design board filled with creative and one-of-a-kind ways to honor our story into our big day. The inside of our venue, the Carolina Grove, was brought to life with lush greenery and neutral florals to mimic the outdoors. The high beams of the inside of the venue were decorated with string lighting to create the illusion of stars over the dance floor. Our table numbers were our personal photos from our many beautiful hikes & the escort cards were each a trail marker that matched each hike. Elizabeth even picked up Krispy Kreme donut holes the day of the wedding for our dessert flambé bar!If there were any hiccups on the day of the wedding, I never knew about it. Elizabeth and Lacey, our day of assistant, made sure everything went smoothly and we were never stressed or worried about complications. To this day, my dad still talks about how Elizabeth brought him a portable fan during the 85 degree heat on our August wedding day.More than anything, during this process, Elizabeth became a friend- she is the kindest, most caring, thoughtful, and genuine human. Everyone needs an Elizabeth during the wedding process - she is incredible at her job. She was our biggest advocate & cheerleader! She celebrated us every chance possible. On the Christmas before our wedding, she sent treats for us and our pups to celebrate the upcoming wedding year. On our wedding day, she sent me Starbucks, and gave me the best pep talk before going down the aisle. Most of all, when I saw everything come together at the grand reveal on wedding day, I couldn’t help but cry happy tears in pure gratitude for all the heart and soul she poured into making our special day a perfect dream. Selecting the A Southern Soiree team and Elizabeth as your wedding planners will be the #1 decision you make in the planning process. They will go above and beyond to bring your dream wedding to life.
Beck Laster: I can't say enough good things about working with A Southern Soiree and I would HIGHLY recommend them to any bride! When I began my wedding journey, I knew I wanted a big, classy wedding but I also wanted it to be unique and not cookie cutter. I was among the post-COVID wedding boom, which made me feel like I was scrambling from day 1 to get the vendors I wanted. Leesa Walker: I cannot say enough about our experience planning my daughter's wedding with A Southern Soiree...more specifically, with Gina, from A Southern Soiree! We live in California, but the wedding was held in Durham, NC, where my daughter and her fiancé met in college. I've had prior experience planning large events and I know the importance of building a good team of vendors and coordinators to ensure a successful outcome. Planning such an important event out of state was initially a concern for me. In doing our research to find a good wedding coordinator, A Southern Soiree was recommended to us. After an initial call with Gina, my mind was quickly put to ease, and what began from there was nothing less than a wonderful year of planning and collaborating with Gina that resulted in the wedding of our dreams. There was not a question that went unanswered, a detail missed. The vendors we worked with exceeded our expectations in every measure. From the photographer to the florist...the cake to the DJ...the coordination with the chapel and rehearsal dinner venue, Gina was on every detail...and all the while, with a happy, positive and confident demeanor! My husband was so impressed with Gina that he called her out personally and thanked her during his Father of the Bride speech!I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, I would highly recommend Gina and A Southern Soiree for this most important occasion!

DJ Harlem Entertainment: I love working with the Southern Soiree team, they do an amazing job. They make my life so much easier as a DJ. Recently, I worked with Lacey. We had to work out logistics with setting up the monogram over the Dance Floor. She communicated with all vendors involved and scheduled a seamless setup time that allowed everyone to get in and get out in a timely manner. I couldn't have asked for a more perfectly executed plan of action. I've worked with every Planner on their team, they all get 5 stars!!!

From presenting vendor options to just her thorough knowledge of the wedding industry, what to spend money on and what to cut out to the day of trusting her with just about anything (including helping my grandmother who had a broken foot) literally anything! It was funny to hear afterwards how many times my husband said "ask Gina" the day of and we both were so grateful looking back because there is nothing that prepares you for the logistics and emotions that go into YOUR wedding. Jillian Knight: Megan and the team at Southern Soirée epitomize professionalism. It was a joy to serve alongside of them for a spring wedding at The Merrimon-Wynne House. From the very beginning of the planning process through until after the wedding, the bride and groom spoke so highly of Megan and Gina. As a photographer, it is so refreshing to work with a planner like Southern Soirée who makes their client the priority. Prior to the wedding, they were hands on with providing information to vendors and made sure we were all on the same page. This made a huge difference in the success of the vendor team on the day of the wedding. We were all able to focus on serving the couple and making their day special. Gina handled the wedding day with grace and even made sure the couple had a moment alone to eat before being introduced to the reception. I highly recommend A Southern Soirée, they’re simply so wonderful!

The concert staff were very kind, accommodating and personable.The acoustics were impressive and the stained glass even beautiful at night by candlelight.Bathrooms conveniently located and clean.The chairs can become a tad uncomfortable if seated for an extended period of time.All in all, a perfect evening at a charming venue with unbelievably talented musicians. 10/10 would attend another concert here!!

Lydia Cato: WOW!! We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Market Hall in May 2023, and we cannot say enough good things about them!!! The venue and the staff were absolutely incredible. From the sales director Kristen and the account manager Samantha to the bartending and catering staff- everyone was beyond amazing. We felt so special on our wedding day, because of how attentive, helpful, friendly, and kind everyone was.Market Hall had EXCELLENT communication with us starting from the very first time we toured the venue. We really appreciated their email reminders/check-ins and communication throughout our planning process. We felt so supported! Management was always quick to return our e-mails anytime we had questions.Obviously, the setting of Market Hall in City Market, across from Moore Square, is breathtaking- but the building, furniture provided, and details (beautiful string lighting inside as well as in the streets surrounding the venue) are gorgeous as well.It was important to us to find a venue that had getting ready areas for both the bride AND the groom. Market Hall has 2 separate suites ON SITE, for both the bride and the groom. Not only do they provide space for getting ready- but they also provide drinks and lunch for the bridal parties before the event.As for the food- WOW! They make the best shrimp & grits that I have ever had. We received SO many compliments from our guests who shared that Market Hall has the best wedding food they have ever had. They have unique and delicious food/appetizer offerings that aren't your "typical" basic wedding food offerings- they were all so amazing and memorable.We have continued to receive compliments from friends and family who continue to share what a special and amazing experience they had here.Thank you again to everyone at Market Hall!

Being able to taste the food before the event ensured we were confident in the menu we were providing to guests. Stephanie Milosh: I've had the opportunity to work at Market Hall in Downtown Raleigh a number of times through the years, and I love how each couple is able to transform the space and make it their own. The neutral colors and industrial vibe are a blank canvas, and the wooden divider wall between ceremony and reception space is a beautiful backdrop. The dressing suites are comfortable and the venue includes food for the wedding parties. The food from the in-house caterers are always incredible, and the photo opportunities in surrounding downtown are endless - plus, everyone loves the cobblestone road right outside! Always happy to plan weddings in this beautiful venue.

Kristen was wonderful in the beginning when we were looking for a perfect venue for our company event and answered any questions or concerns I had really quickly, and was just awesome with providing information about the venue. The person who was integral to our event's success though was Katie, the event manager at Market Hall, who we worked with as the event date got closer. She was efficient, informative, responsive and patient, and offered us great ideas as to how we could make our event run more smoothly or look more beautiful. On the day of, we were missing a podium and she miraculously had one appear before our event started, she answered every annoying text question I sent her at 6am that morning, knew everything about the crazy parking situation downtown, and just had everything covered wonderfully and made our lives so much easier on the event day. Also, the venue is GORGEOUS, the staff were kind and efficient, and many of our guests came up to tell us how amazing the food was. I can't say enough good things about this venue. The best experience possible.

Trenton Menius: Gorgeous and chic, with extremely helpful and coordinated staff onsite. I worked this venue as part of a vendor team and was very pleased with all aspects of the operation. You can count on them to make all the moving parts of an event work in unison, and really deliver the guest experience that couples are hoping for when they dream up their big day.
Gail Augustine: This place ROCKS. It is a great spot to host your private event, wedding, shower, or whatever you'd like. The owner, Richelle, was on top of everything. She went over and beyond to make sure we didn't stress. We had plenty of chairs, and she was readily available if we needed anything. Most definitely recommend Traine at Seaboard Station for your event.

Brooke Robotti: Richelle Norman, a very pleasant woman, worked at and owned this venue when it was called Traine. We were initially very pleased with this venue, with everything running smoothly. And then communication start changing.We noticed that a new lady named Nicole took over the venue but it wasn’t until we went to have our first in person meeting that she told us she was the new owner. We were so excited for her new purchase and had high hopes for the future of what was now The Docks (even though we had already printed our invitations). It did not take long for that positive trajectory to switch gears.After taking over, we were forced to sign a new contract disallowing our dogs that were initially to be included in the wedding. We were able to push back on that but still lost some other promises that were made to us initially by Richelle. Our dogs came, did exactly what they were supposed to do and left promptly, as she requested. Additionally, the drafted contracts were completely disorganized and very obviouslycopied and pasted from another document so that dates, times, and locations were all incorrect and inapplicable to our agreement. This new contract would have been a manipulative ploy for us to spend more money had we not caught these changes ahead of time. Not only this, but she forgot she added a portion about providing drinks until we brought it up to her the night before when she told us that she wasn’t responsible for providing water.Then, the renovations began. We are a lesbian couple with a large wedding party that really loved the large bridal suite on site. Without mention, she immediately changed it so that it was split in half and a new suite (one that you had to walk outside the building to access - not favorable on our rainy wedding day) was added. Because of this change, there was not enough space for the bridal party to get ready, so we had to get an AirBnB and we’re unable to use the bridal suite that morning, costing us over $1000. She also added an accent wall the weekend before our wedding and told my wife “well, it will either be done or it won’t.”Moreover, she generally just has a terrible attitude and demeanor around guests and other vendors. She made inappropriate remarks to our vendors about how she will happily throw away any decorations left behind after our time is up and that we have better thought about what to do with our tree decorations because “she won’t be dealing with those.” And that we were “cheaping out” on our food and “this is what we get”. Not to mention that she forced staff to start cleaning up 1.5 hours before the end of our contracted event up time so that people had nowhere to sit, causing many of our guests to leave early. She made other vendors do tasks that they should not be required to do bc she very obviously doesn’t want to pay her staff to clean up her own venue.So many people came up to my wife and I to complain about her attitude and inflexibility. We were made to feel like an inconvenience to her even though we were paid up and hadn’t been intentionally offensive or unhelpful.Overall, we left the wedding wanting to change absolutely nothing except our venue. When Nicole doesn’t even have enough decency and professionalism to speak to the brides/bride and groom/grooms at the rehearsal or on the day of the wedding, you kind of know it’s a place you won’t bother to recommend to anyone else in the future.

The rolling garage doors that open to the patio provided additional space and a market-like atmosphere on the night of our reception. Many of our guests commented that the valet staff was extremely courteous, and we personally witnessed the bartenders working diligently to serve everyone quickly while remaining personal and interactive. Shawn Googins: Fantastic small venue for concerts, the acoustics were excellent for a string quartet at the Fever Event we saw a tribute to Queen by the Lyricosa Quartet, and they were stellar.. We will go back

Peter Spung: We had a great experience listening to the music of Queen played by a string quartet set in candlelight. The covered parking was easy and well directed by the staff, the wine and beer bar had ample selection and friendly servers, and the seating was cozy and comfortable amid many candles. Rated 4 not 5 because the microphone was not working properly, so it was hard to hear the intro to each piece. That seemed to include interesting tidbits about the writer and the song's origin and popularity. Regardless, we'll be back for future events...

Kelly Sears: Gorgeous venue and well-orchestrated. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We saw a candlelight concert there and the acoustics were fabulous. We hope to have other opportunities to go here. It's a gorgeous place to have a barn wedding with upscale accommodations.
