A RAS: -Be careful about bugs, there were lots of strange bugs in my room when I complained they send a guy with spray to kill them , no action to identify the infestation cause and fix it-The breakfast service is so bad, the lady that works there definitely hate her job, she is disrespectful and it takes forever to do anything.DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL !!!!!Rooms: Bug infestedFood & drinks: Tribale services

Lois Petersen: Beautiful, newer hotel located on the campus of NC State University. I had room 401, a spacious corner room with huge windows overlooking landscaping on one side & the city on the other. Everything is clean and well stocked. Outdoor heated pool, workout room & restaurant with bar. Some rooms overlook Lake Raleigh. What really stands out about State View is the service. It has been quite a while since I was greeted with such sincere welcome and hospitality at a hotel. Staff are very professional and accommodating. I have no complaints at all and highly recommend.
George Yorgakaros: Lovely hotel and where my partner and I stay every time we're in Raleigh. The rooms are clean and the hotel is nice - but where StateView really makes the difference is with service. Every person I've ever met at the front desk has greeted me with a smile and has been extraordinarily helpful. At the bar, Mimi went above and beyond even after they had closed to grab me an iced tea - a simple request, sure, but one that definitely put her out, given they had already closed.The fitness room is well-equipped and never crowded and the pool is comfortable and has plenty of outdoor seating above and around it.
Rene Bystron: As an Ambassador Elite member at Marriott, I've stayed at many of their properties. Unfortunately, Stateview Hotel is not one I can recommend.The hotel's physical aspects are decent. The rooms are okay and the dining staff is friendly. However, the management's lack of customer service and efficiency taints the overall experience.I ran into a problem when I asked for a simple request: to include both guests' names on the folio. I was assured by the receptionist this would be done. It wasn't.Despite my follow-up emails, I received only generic responses from a manager named Nakyla Barnes. They were quick to apologize, but my request was ignored. It's been three weeks now, and I'm still waiting for that folio.It's clear there's an issue with the mid-level management at this hotel. Their indifference towards customers' needs is shocking. If Stateview wants to improve, they must address this.In conclusion, Stateview Hotel is a letdown. If you're a Marriott member, I suggest you consider other properties.
Monica Tornros Jakobsson: We stayed at the Stateview hotel for 3 nights, and we wished we hadn't booked so many nights. Front desk staff was not friendly at all. Breakfast was so so. Rooms were way too dark. Bed did not suit me, it was so hard. My back was so stiff and I ended up sitting in the futon for the most of the night. There was of course some positive things too. Pool area is really nice. Location is great.

The hotel staff were extremely kind and friendly (being greeted by the receptionist with a glass of Prosecco was a nice touch). The hotel’s restoration was masterfully done - giving modern comforts while maintaining the historic nature of the home. Perfect location walkable to some of our favorite bars and restaurants. The breakfast and coffee were also awesome. We will be back!

Our room, the Honeymoon Suite, was a visual feast - a note to curious travelers, it's not exclusively for newlyweds, and we found it perfect for our girls-only getaway. The suite was an impressive blend of elegance and historical charm, showcasing the impeccable restoration of the hotel's architectural heritage.Each corner of the hotel, including our suite, was a testament to luxurious comfort while maintaining an inviting ambiance. The suite featured a splendid clawfoot tub, a state-of-the-art shower, a double vanity, and a generously spaced bedroom equipped with blackout curtains. The fragrant soaps and lotions further enhanced the opulence of the room.During our stay, we visited the quaint and stylish Parlor Bar for cocktails and appetizers. The creative genius behind the bar menu is Will Bryant, though on the night of our visit, it was Donnie skillfully shaking and stirring behind the counter. Under their combined talents, the cocktails, particularly the 'White Lotus' and 'Blanco Rosa’, were as smooth and delightful as one could wish for.The hotel also offered a delightful "Breakfast in Bed" service. Frank Raus: Stayed one night on our way from Pennsylvania to Savannah. Property both inside and out was very beautiful and impeccably maintained. Only two items prevented a 5-Star Rating. 1. Our room was equipped with a "wet bath" (where the toilet is located in the shower area) and we are not a fan of that arrangement. 2. The hotel hosted a corporate hospitality party that dominated the complete first floor. We were never told of this function, which force us to enjoy our cocktails on the front porch (which was lovely) but we could not enjoy the parlor or any of the other first floor rooms. Shayna Murphy: Can’t say enough good things about our stay here. We did a short staycation from Durham for our anniversary. The room was immaculate, almost wanted to cancel our plans to stay in. We were within a few blocks of our favorite restaurant and it was so easy to walk over and enjoy the great food in downtown. Amenities were great and although we didn’t need much, with how communicative the team was I’m sure we would have been well taken care of if anything came up. We will absolutely be back!

Richard Lamb: Helpful, generous and knowledgeable staff. Great location for walking to the visitor center, downtown library, art gallery and many restaurants. Great fireworks show for New Years. Less than two minute walk to a food court with live weekend music at the Transfer Company. I even took an art lesson from artist Barb Cherry at Art Space, an art gallery five minutes from The Guest House.
Zakary Hartford: My wife and I stayed here for the weekend and absolutely loved it. The space is beautiful. It is evident that a lot of care and thought went into the design, appliances, and furniture in the beautiful space. The bed was really comfy and the whole place was spotless. They provide yogurt, fruit, and granola for breakfast and there are drinks and snacks available for purchase. The location is perfect and there are a ton of great coffee shops, restaurants, and attractions within walking distance. We will definitely be staying here next time we come to Raleigh, we loved it!

Andrew Hobbs: Our toilet stopped flushing. Our keys stopped working literally every day. The hotel has leaks and the elevators are multiple years out of inspection with missing bolts in the panels and take up to 15 minutes to arrive. Out room had multiple broken tiles and the bathroom had mold. No stairs from the lobby so it’s a fire hazard. The restaurant was overpriced and bland. There was a homeless guy in the lobby asking people to rent him a room that the staff did nothing about. No fridge or microwave in any room and some of the ice machines don’t work, and since they are on random floors you will have to run around the whole hotel to get ice. The door to the room also wouldn’t close all the way unless you pull on it with all your weight so it could be potentially reopened without a key. Half the escalators don’t work. The room also had silverfish.

C Bee: I had breakfast Monday morning while waiting for my business partner to come and join me. I was blown away at how delicious the food was. I'm in the food and beverage industry, and I sometimes like to taste other chef's food. I had to ask who the chef was. The young lady told me Darrin made the breakfast. Sam Sletten: Pros: Lovely front desk staff, good air conditioning.Cons: Rooms.Traveling as a group, of 3 rooms that we checked into 2 had to be changed. The first room's door had a security latch that was completely sawn through. The second room had not been cleaned after the previous occupant. All three rooms had either cheap or highly worn vinyl flooring that was coming undone. Hooks for the showers were old/warped and as a result occupants had to re-hang the shower liner. One request to replace a broken coffee maker was ignored.I am a regular guest at Sheraton Hotels and have never seen a property in this rough of condition. Would stay away until property undergoes another renovation.

Bee Kagelmayer: Absolutely gorgeous & absolutely amazing staff!! Extremely thankful that they helped us with an early check-in after a vrbo scam left us stranded! We felt very safe walking around the area which is pretty close to a lot of wonderful places. It's quiet at night AND the beds are super comfy. I never sleep well away from home but consistently slept extremely well. Absolutely love all of the branding and carefully curated visuals. Looking forward to making this our regular spot for our Raleigh visits!! ♡
Toby Johnson: Very clean, lovely rooms, with comfortable beds. I enjoyed the vibe here, a modern take of the original travelodge from the 1960's. The staff was great, and I enjoyed the outdoor sitting area and music being played. The cocktails we had were delicious. A convenient 10-20 minute walk to the downtown areas and many fabulous eateries. I would give the property 5 stars except for the very loud people that woke us up in the middle of the night on both nights. The walls are very thin, and as our room was on the end where the lounge is you could here the music and people talking. So unless you are a heavy sleeper, I would suggest being at the other end of the property to avoid the noise. In hindsight I should have borrowed one of the white noise machines that they offer to use. Other than this I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is well situated in downtown which allows you to walk to many places.The room was very well cleaned and stocked with a bunch of amenities, including a bathrobe. Even the Bluetooth speaker in the room was a pleasant surprise.The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quite.The lounge in the lobby was really nice with many different drink and snack options. David Ethridge: The Longleaf Hotel and Lounge is a great place to stay when visiting Raleigh. The hotel itself is a refurbished '50s style roadside hotel. Two levels with no elevator, and a small parking lot. Be warned, some of the rooms have an exterior door, and the noise outside can be loud especially late night on the weekend. The front desk does offer a white noise machine, so if you're a light sleeper, you may want to take advantage of that. The rooms themselves are small, but functional and quite comfortable. I also really enjoyed the (Malin+Goetz) bath products provided: peppermint shampoo, cilantro conditioner and rum body wash & soap. So refreshing. The lack of a tub is always a bit disappointing, but the showers were very nice. They also have a Bluetooth speaker in the room for your use, along with a refillable carafe for the filtered water by the ice machine in the hall. There's also a small fridge stocked with a few drinks, at a somewhat reasonable price. The canned sodas were $2. The front desk will also give you a 10 page printed guide to all the restaurants and attractions within walking distance.Be sure to visit the lounge, which can get quite busy at times. Saturday afternoon the patio was packed, but by about 9 pm, only a few guests remained and it was quite easy to get a table. The food menu is limited, but I thought things were tasty and a good value. We got deviled eggs, with the filling piped in to order, only $1.50 each, and a port wine cheese ball with an entire sleeve of Ritz crackers was only $8. We tried two of the cocktails: the Goodbye Earl with vodka, Earl Grey syrup and black pepper, and the Khack-A-Ma-Mie with coconut rum, Tom Kha syrup and Hellfire bitters. Delicious!

Jenna Wolfenson: The Longleaf is great! I stayed there for my best friend's wedding weekend and it was so delightful! Savannah was working most mornings and she was so helpful and accommodating. She also remembered not only the bridal party's names, but our coffee orders. She'd hand us our delicious oat milk vanilla lattes with our initials without even having to ask :)

Andrew Gaeta: As an over the road trucker, I often look for extended stay hotels when I get one so I can use the in-room kitchenettes. This hotel has a very nice kitchenette setup compared to others I've been to, it's a nice clean hotel with friendly staff. The only issue I have with service is I found the Candlewood Cupboard at this one I found to be both lacking in product selection and overpriced as compared to other Candlewoods.The location while it is a nice area is right next to possibly the loudest street I've slept near in Raleigh or any mid tier hotel for that matter.Like all Candlewoods it's pet friendly and while others I've been to often have pet welcoming packages this one does not. That being said, they have much better yard space to walk dogs at. The pet fee is also a very cheap flat rate of $75 as opposed to other hotels where you pay a nightly fee.Note that Candlewoods nationwide don't offer daily suite cleaning, only doing this once per week of extended stays. You can request additional service, but bear in mind they expect people to temporarily live in these hotels. Personally I find the lack of a daily housekeeping service preferable, leading to less disruption.All in all, I would highly recommend this Candlewood to anyone seeking an extended stay hotel in Raleigh.

illWill “Âzazel”: Me and my fiance and my senior American Staffordshire Terrier have been staying here for close to 3 months Id say. This place is amazing, we were staying at Extended Stay and were loyal to them for over a year & hf until we were harassed by employees and management alike. We stay to ourselves and we haven't had any issues with the staff they are polite and courteous when we see them. They provide services that are a Godsend like laundry and bathroom amenities that we don't have to come out of pocket for. That is a blessing in itself. I would recommend this place to anyone. Timothy bulleman: Worst bed I have slept on in a long time! Do not stay here if you have any back issues! Top it off with a cancellation fee of $103 plus the cost of going to another hotel. Truly I have never had to cancel a reservation Due to a bed. I kept my wife up all night and if I had a decent chair in the room I would have slept there. I am going to eat the fee and get a good nights sleep at the Hampton inn down the street! The most important comment I have is that the (king) bed is incredibly comfortable!!! Unlike competitors (M****tt), the bed is AWESOME! The property is maintained and quiet. Full size fridge, microwave, 2 burner stove. Bathroom a little dated and ceiling fixture is dim. Room is spacious. Would definitely stay here again!Rooms: Room is large studio, recently refurbished and well done. Well laid out and traveler friendly. Bed is SUPER comfortable! There’s a recliner in the room, along with desk chair and kitchen type chair. Full length mirror.
Michael Welch: Love this place. The rooms are so clean. All rooms on the 1st floor have no carpet. Rooms are cleaned very thoroughly (no nasty little hairs left behind in the tub or around the toilet either) they actually come and clean your room once a week like they say they will, unlike some places that say they do and then you have to go ask for it to actually be done. Every single person that works here is super nice and helpful. There's a little store with snacks and necessities. Free coffee, it could taste better but it could also taste worse. They have board games and a few kitchen appliances that can be borrowed. Free laundry. And, it's by apartments for people 55 and older so it's peaceful and seems to be pretty safe. Been here for almost 5 months and no complaints so far.
Charles Williamson: I am a Diamond Elite IHG member and I booked a room using my points for my 18 year old daughter and her friend She was attending the Stevie Nicks concert. When she arrived they would not allow her and her to check in because she was under 21. We live over 2 hours away. So that would of meant her having to drive all the way back late at night. It’s sad to know that a customer that stays over 2/3 of the year in IHG properties would turn away there daughter only because she is 18 years old. Which in the United States considers a legal adult. What if she was broke down and had no were to go. You can’t depend on this company to take care of your kids!

Joy: A favorite accommodation of my husband and I. Cordial staff. No breakfast but the one bedroom suite we prefer is always clean organized fully equipped kitchen full size fridge within the very nice galley style kitchen- dishwasher top stove microwave- paper towels dishwashing detergent and dishwasher washer detergent. We buy items and stick in the fridge- cook or heat in the microwave- dishes utensils glasses available. Larger appliances like a slow cooker air fryer etc available just to sign in at the front desk. Two televisions in the suite which is nice for us bc we can look at different venues or no tv at all. There is a door that be closed - to the living room area - creating privacy if needed. The one bedroom suites are located toward the ends of the hotel making it just steps to the parking area. There is a complimentary laundry area adjacent to the fitness studio- sundries laundry items available for purchase at a small kiosk at the front desk area.The hotel is secure with a key only access even after dark at the entrance. Situated in an area many conveniences available- mall’s hospitals major airport several major highways and routes.

Brian Joseph: First, let me start by saying I really like this place... The staff is top notch, and the service was impeccable. The grounds and rooms, as well as the amenities, are meticulously maintained. The food was awesome! Everything we tried was simply devine, and though everything on the various menus were pricey, it was all worth it due to the service and quality alone. The spa was truly relaxing, and the masseuses there and the support staff were great. That said, the ONLY thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars was the fact the road noise from I-40 was just horrible and non-stop due to it is literally right behind it, which made being on the lakeview balcony almost impossible, and enjoying the outside amenties relatively noisy. But again, everything else was really good, the concierge and the front office were awesome and we truly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back (I will just be inside more).

Annie Thompson: Our families recommended the Umstead as the top place to have your wedding…so we booked our wedding there. On the day of the wedding someone in our wedding party tested positive for Covid. We decided to cancel our wedding and quarantined ourselves and our guests. We even ordered room service and had them leave the food outside of the door to make sure others were safe. One week later the Umstead charged us for all the food for the wedding including charging for not just the ingredients but the cooked food. They also charged us for the wedding cake and my bouquets. We never saw any of these things. They didn’t even ask us about the items when we cancelled on the day of. We would have shared all the food and cake with our guests who were quarantined and travelled across the country for our wedding. When we mentioned that they should have told us about these things and that they were going to charge us, they said that they didn’t want to bug us after what happened. That was cop-out they could have told any of our wedding party about it and we would have been able to at least enjoy what we were being charged. They made an already traumatic experience way worse. This place has no heart and is strictly money driven. I do not recommend this hotel especially for your wedding.

C_R_E_A_M Dollar Dollar Bill Yall: I enjoyed the most delayed but relaxing birthday massage ever. Apparently Umstead spa had a renovation that made it impossible to find an open slot to book for my birthday 5/19. I settled for the next available day which took place today and the environment was so comforting. I didn’t get to experience the steam room, but the lounges were nice, the atmosphere, the whirlpool, the co-ed outdoor whirlpool was so nice. The bath & body products available for use while patronizing the establishment smell so good and feel nice on the skin. I booked the coastal massage 80 min with Chengwei, he provided a relaxing massage experience. I’ll have to return at a later date.Unika B. & Co.

Charles gehlken: We stay at this amazing place at least once a year! Beautiful and serene! We always have a wonderful time, and I am struggling with putting 4 stars for service as it is their own standard I am comparing it to. They are normally a level of perfection rarely matched by others. However, this last time was a bit under that standard. We ordered coffee with cream and sugar and got a dirty cup and no spoon. When they did housekeeping after the first night, they took my robe as it was lying on the bed anddidn'tt replace it. Simple easy things that they fixed rapidly, but mistakes we are not used to at this usually impeccable hotel! This, of course, will not discourage us from attending again, if not before, then definitely on our next anniversary!Rooms: Rooms are always clean and well presented. They always try to go the extra mile!Food & drinks: Their bar and lounge are leagues above most within their market. However, Herons restaurant is an absolute must! karin golden: I was gifted a massage at Umstead spa for Mother’s Day, and I felt like it was such a bad experience for over $200. When I first booked it my massage was 1:15 until 2:15 and they said I can arrive at 12:15 and stay until 3:15. I’ve been to spas all over the world and I’ve never had an end time so I thought that was strange but I just went with it. When I arrived, they said that my end time is 3 PM not 315. My massage started a few minutes late and the entire time all I was thinking was “how I’m going to shower, get ready, dry my hair by 3 PM.” Not relaxing at ALL. By the time I left the room and took the elevator back down to the locker room. I checked my phone and it was 2:25. Usually, I like to steam after massage but obviously there was no time for that. I got to check out right before 3 PM. But if I hadn’t, would they really come looking for me in the locker room and kick me out? I find this policy so strange. And I told them that and they got very rude about it. 
kuenga kay: This review is long due. The spa itself is impressive, and the ambiance itself is laid back and relaxing. The property is beautiful, and I can see why people choose this place as a wedding venue. We also ate at the restaurant; the service and the food were exceptional. It’s in small portions but every bit as savory. The little complimentary juice they give you tastes so good!!! They have specific hours they remain open, so if you don’t have a reservation, call in and ask beforehand. I would definitely go in when I have more time so I can go around the property and really enjoy what they have to offer.
C S: As my first time experiencing the spa as I have waited a few years due to Covid and then closed for renovations, I was finally able to get an appointment and so excited to visit. I was beyond disappointed. The massage itself was underwhelming, the room was too bright even though I asked the therapist to have the room dark, which they did not accommodate and could not relax. I have received better massages at a generic massage chain then I did today. As this spa is rated in the top 10 spas to visit in NC they should hold therapists to a certain technique standard as an expectation. I will not be returning as the overall experience was not worth the wait or the money.

Brian C: Stayed at the hotel one night as part of a wedding. The wedding itself was great, but the Umstead is a hotel that I would not trust with my luggage.We were part of the wedding party so when we arrived, they told us to tag our luggage and leave it in a pick-up area so it could be taken up to our rooms. However, when we went up to our rooms after the wedding, our luggage wasn't there. We hoped that perhaps they would deliver them later, but they never did. Later that night, we found our luggage by coincidence just sitting in a meeting room completely unattended at almost midnight. Who knows what would have happened to our belongings if we never found it ourselves and they sat there all night? On top of all this one of my bags was missing!When I talked to the management about it, they said they'd look into the situation and get back to me. Weeks go by and no one ever contacts me. I then had to start bugging them to get a response. After over a month of me calling them several times to see if they found my bag, they finally tell me that they can't find it and have no idea why the bellhops delivered the bags to the wrong place, basically shrugging off the whole situation. The manager also told me that they cannot accept responsibility for the missing bag and cannot compensate me since "it was never in their care," despite me voicing that I felt like it was in their care since they were the ones who re-assured me that they would deliver my bags in the first place when I left them in the pick-up area.It is pretty shameful that a 5 star hotel can't even correctly deliver bags to a room. A seemingly simple task to most. And it is shocking the amount of irresponsibility and apathy I experienced from the staff when they misplace your luggage. Do better and please don't treat your future guests like how you've treated me and my friends.
