Abbey Mullet: Both times I've rented here, they have charged me an upcharge because they don't have the car I requsted. Both times I have requested a compact SUV and they gave me a standard SUV and then charged me an additional 10$ per day. I shouldn't be paying extra because they don't have the car I originally paid for. Also this past time they charged me a gas fee even though I brought the car back with the same amount of gas it had in it when I received it (half full).
Dave Pierce: There should be an option for no stars because I got no car. I booked a car a week in advance, did online check in the day before, and was greeted with a voicemail when my flight landed the morning of my reservation that no cars were available. I was told to call the main reservation desk, who informed me there were no cars in the entire state of North Carolina. I had to get an Uber to my destination that was 90 minutes away. Interestingly, a round trip Uber was cheaper (including a hefty driver tip) than my reservation, so I ended up saving money. I look forward to never renting from Budget again and moving to ride share services that actually provide a service.
Peter Gehres: Booked online for a rental car. When I arrived I was told they didn't have any cars. They refused my refund and told me good luck finding something to drive. A profound lack of customer service and complete lack of caring for the position they put me in. I wouldn't rent from this location or Budget rental...ever again. Hard to believe people this cruel and uncaring are in the customer service business.

robin farrell: I had a terrific experience with this location — I was a bit terrified after I made my reservation in August + waited until a week before my holiday trip to check reviews only to read horrible experiences dating back several years.Turns out the franchise was recently bought by a lovely couple, Veronica + David. Everything was perfect, the suv I reserved was in great shape (pretty sure it was an upgrade actually), the rate was way better than 2 tickets to Florida and our travels weren’t ruined by cancellations. I will definitely be back for my next trip!

Richard Gilliam: Due to a flight cancellation, we decided to drive home. I picked up the rental in Charlotte at nearly 10pm on 7/14, I had the car reserved until 9:30 pm on 7/15. I returned the car to the Memphis airport before 7 pm on 7/15. The lady who greeted me called me by my last name. I asked her if she had me checked in and she said she did. She then asked me to move the car over from the Avis side to the Budget side. I did as she asked and once again went over and asked the lady if she had me checked in. She responded that she did.After collecting a suitcase from American Airlines, that was on the plane that I had been booked on previously, I took an Uber to my home and was dropped off at 8:07 pm. (I have the receipt for that Uber).I still didn't feel comfortable that I was checked in and called Budget customer service to confirm. The customer service agent confirmed that the car was checked in.On Sunday 7/16 I received a text at 4 pm that the car was checked in at 11:32 am on 7/16 and I had been charged for an additional day. I called customer service once again and have a case #57393552 pending.

Mr. Staton: Mr. Lorenzo at Budget Car Rental in Charlotte, North Carolina, made the entire experience fun, simple, and special. Mr. Lorenzo is an absolute professional. His Style is Bar None and he is very engaging. Super Attentive and it seems as each Customer gets their very own Custom Customer Service ! There's No Boring Cookie Cutter Script, yet very organized in his presentation. Very Neat in his appearance and a Complete Joy to Experience... I even Love his Awesome Burberry Eyewear and how he presents himself. I kept saying to myself, "Self... This is what Customer Service should look like everywhere and EVERYBODY should Treat each other the way that Mr. Lorenzo Treated me !" The entire process was seamless and left no room for error or misunderstanding. As a matter of fact, Mr. Lorenzo should teach a Course on Excellent Customer Service and General Kindness ! Even when there wasn't a Customer in front of him, Mr. Lorenzo was very poise and had an approachable regal quality about himself that stood out and made you pray that one can get a chance to be in his presence. I witness Customers behind me letting other Customers go ahead of them just so they could get to be first to see him after I was done ! Forget about going to any other Car Rental Service, Everyone is hooked because of Mr. Lorenzo ! I will brag and Sing Praises about Mr. Lorenzo and the Amazing Experience I had with him for all my days and beyond. Every July 8th, I have already initiated and will be Celebrating 'National Mr. Lorenzo Day', so mark your calendar !!!! Mr. Lorenzo will make your day... even your entire life !I am Mr. Staton and I approve this message.
Marika Morris: Terrible terrible experience. Car was filthy with some sort of film on windows so had to roll down windows to change lanes. We picked it up after flying all day and it was dark so we didn't know condition of car. Low tire pressure indicator came on so had to put air in tire. We were staying 2 hours from airport so returning it wasn't an option. Called customer service and they offered me $50 which i declined and told me to talk to agent when we returned car. 2nd day tire was completely flat. Took to shop and they removed a nail and fixed it...$41 out of our pocket. When we returned car spoke to agent who offered me $50, which I declined. They said to call customer service, which I did when we returned home. They offered me $100 refund which I am still waiting for. Will never use Budget again. They could have made it right but didn't

Jerry Lee: This review is for both this location and the company.The company misrepresented a 35% off discount for my first time rental. I took them up on the offer and then I challenged immediately when 35% was not taken off on my bill. They then offered to cancel my reservation for a $50 fee! (For me calling them out about their deceptive business practices. Nice.) During subsequent inquires about adding luggage racks to my rental, I was told to drive to the front desk! When I explained I was no where near the front desk, I was given a "local" number that took me to the international desk. I have spent 30 minutes trying to get the number to the local desk. I am convinced a public number doesn't exist. Customer service (on the international line) has been consistently dismissive or clueless. One of the worst customer services experiences I've had with a big company.

Love how at the check-in desk they tell you that your car is in spot G15, not further explaining that spot G15 is simply a line of people waiting for cars to become available as they have none. 45 minutes in a 90F+ humid parking garage and we were handed keys to a clapped out 2019 Jeep Compass full of scratches and dings - and felt lucky to have it. On drive to destination noticed abnormal tire noise and steering wheel was off 20 degrees. Checked tires to see this one had worn down to the belts. My FAMILY was in this vehicle. Called and after maybe 1 hour on phone and was sent to a location 30 minutes away to replace vehicle. Arrived and was told no vehicle was available. In the end refused to drive car and had their roadside come tow it. Had to borrow a car for the day and go back to airport (1.5 hour round trip) the next day to get replacement which had a 1h20m total wait. Was told charge for rental would be waived, and of course got emailed receipt for full charge when I returned it. Not a single "We are sorry" for putting my family's lives at risk.

Debbie Santiago-Jones: I would leave a zero on this potentially tragic car rental experience if possible. I was rented a car from Budget at the Charlotte Airport location. No walkthrough inspection was offered. On the second day the passenger tire began losing air. Upon inspection there was a hole due to the tire being bald with the metal threads exposed. Tried to change to the spare, but the spare did not have the complete kit, and I had to get a family member to change the tire to get the vehicle to safety. Further inspection showed that the driver side tire was as bald with metal threads exposed as the passenger side. I have taken photos from every side to demonstrate. There was some tread on the outside of the tire, which is why I didn’t notice the dangerous condition when I picked the car up.The roadside assistance towed the car the next day and said it was a “tragedy waiting to happen “ and he was “surprised one or both tires hadn’t blown when I was driving down the interstate. If it had, the car certainly would have flipped, potentially causing tragic injuries to anyone in the car and any vehicles around it.”Budget offered to give me another car; why would I trust this company to rent my another vehicle? I have tried repeatedly to contact the apparently illusive manager of the Charlotte location with no success. No one I have spoken to, having been transferred to every number and department imaginable, has been willing to divulge the information.My suggestion is to examine your rental car with a fine toothed comb and a bright light, preferably with a staff member from the rental agency. Because I was in a hurry to reach a family member in the hospital, I took a chance and could have ended up in the hospital as well—or worse.

Earlene Miller: Very dissatisfied with Budget and this rental. A couple of months ago my husband called to reserve a car for 4 days in Charlotte NC. The price for the rental, insurance and other fees was $552.64. That amount was paid at the time the reservation was made. However, when he picked up the car he was told there was no insurance and charged an addition $372.35. We paid $924.99 to rent a medium size SUV for 4 days that was driven about 50 miles. Such a BAD experience. I hope no one else has to deal with this.
Richard Shephard: Extremely poor quality car that was very dirty, both inside and out, and smelled of stale cigarettes. The low oil warning light was on from the time I picked up the car to the time I brought it back. The entire three days I had the car I had to hear the oil warning sound every 30-minutes!The drop-off staff was rude and not helpful at all.For the price they charge (which was over $1000 for only 3-days), you would think the service would be better and the car would have been maintained and clean.I'll never go back.
Jen Pawl: The final bill was almost twice as much as what I booked for. My booking was prepaid at nearly $700, I knew I would have about $200 additional in cost due to a late return and fuel. But when I opened my final bill receipt email to see it was almost $1600 I was shocked, to say the least. I would have booked with another company that was charging around $1000 for the week. I won't be considering Budget/Avis for future rentals unless there is no other choice. Very unhappy!!

I needed two 15-seater vans for two weeks for a program in October and even with the nationwide shortage their prices were fair and they had plenty of availability. Communicating with the guys in the office as things needed to be tweaked and updated was really easy and the whole process was so human, unlike dealing with the the robots and jumping through the hoops with the big companies. A real win.

My advice is if you use this company, deal strictly in cash.

I rented for over a month and it got old that they never have cars to switch you out and the one i drove white sonota was trash junk. I replced both head lights fixed the window buttons and the driver door handle. If you have no other option then go for it but beware what you get

Marcus Budd: The gentleman that gave me the rental was very courteous and took the time to make my visit easy. The one star is due to the woman with dreads that works there. I turn in the car and she doesnt inspect it while im watching instead turns me away and says its good. She thought she was slick by trying to call me after she took the keys and didnt inspect it, trying to say the car wasnt cleaned. I easily disputed the charge and got my $200 back. If the gentleman is there work with him, the other knucklehead needs to go back to the corner where she belongs
Brionna Eaddy: Pre- Paid for my rental to be picked up on 12/24. showed up at 11am and location was closed and chained. 2 other folks were there waiting as well. No one ever showed. Do NOT visit this location. When I called corporate they informed me the location should have been open until 12 and the holiday did not affect hours.

Sidney Born: Arrived when the doors were opened in the morning to pick up my prepaid rental of five days. The gentleman who assisted me (I wish I would have grabbed his name) was super friendly and let me have my choice of two cars available in the tier I reserved. After a quick walkover of the car and a great recommendation for breakfast I was in and out in about 25 minutes.
Neha Debbad: Hello. We had the worst experience here. We reserved an intermediate sized car from Costco travel website. The ladies were very rude and unprofessional. When we tried to pick up the car, the lady there informed I had multiple reservations on my name and cannot pick the car. We waited for an hour, called the Budget customer service, made them talk to the ladies. The ladies denied the service rudely and blamed the system. Later, they apologized that it was the system’s fault and not there mistake. Though we had nothing wrong on our side, we waited for an hour withstanding their rude behavior and body shaming. We asked for a bigger size car as compensation but as expected they denied that and asked us to exchange it near the airport and said this is the car we would get anywhere for our “size”. This is highly unacceptable and would never rent a car here.

Maiya Williams: 3 out of the 5 times I’ve used this location they haven’t had any cars available. Sometimes they let me pay with a debit card, sometimes they claim they can’t. They don’t honor or uphold online reservations at all, so don’t even bother making one. On the occasions I’ve successfully gotten a car, it’s your run of the mill experience. I stopped using this location however because they do not have enough inventory to offer one way rental - even on moving vans. I just go to the airport location now even though it’s out of my way. The experience is much more consistent.
Josh Williams: Don't rent a car from here. If you reserve a car you better be there when the door opens if not they will give your car away. And then company will charge you extra to get another one at a different location. Ruined my daughter chirstmas funny cause I reserved the car 2 weeks before the day I was picking up. Didn't even give a notice. Got told reserving a car means nothing its first come first serve with this company fyi. The woman behind the counter was rude and acted like it's my fault she gave it away
Jorge Guzman: I rent a car to pick up at 4pm. They called me 3:58pm when I was in the uber to tell me they did not have that car available. That they only had another that was double the price and I could pay or just cancel. The women on the phone was very rude. First time I see this in a rental; when that happen they give you what they have for same price. So they made me lose 50$ in uber and I had to look online again for another car. Money and time wasted thanks to them. Dont rent here.
Tweetie Pie: I love the folks working here. The online booking is difficult. Be sure to call ahead even if you have an online reservation. The online booking does not always correlate to onsite inventory.
