What sets Sun Yi’s Academy apart from other Tae Kwon Do schools?

Sun Yi’s Academy does not hire instructors from other schools to teach for us. All of our Instructors began as White Belts and worked diligently to achieve Black Belt and above to the Master level – all within Sun Yi’s Academy.

Our Instructors have a minimum 8 years of experience and are nationally certified under the Traditional Tae Kwon Do Association (TTA). With the highest-ranking instructors of any academy in the United States, Sun Yi’s Instructors are committed to maintaining the teaching standards of our Traditional (self-defense) style. As a new student you will benefit from their dedication and experience as they pass on the tradition directly to you.

To maintain this high caliber of technique and skills, Sun Yi’s Instructors receive continuous training – from both Grand Master Yi at his annual Instructor Seminars, and locally from Jr. Grand Master Randy Berger, the second-highest-ranking Sun Yi’s Instructor in the country – at special twice-monthly Black Belt classes.

The true martial artist must be committed to following the ethics, called tenets.

The practice of Traditional Tae Kwon Do can help you develop power, strength, flexibility, and endurance. Once you understand and develop the fundamentals of Tae Kwon Do, your workouts will become more aerobic and your overall health will improve.

You do not have to be in shape to get started. We will get you in great shape and teach you how to defend yourself or others. Sun Yi's Academy offers mixed classes - co-ed adults, families, and children (8 years and up) - at very affordable rates. There are many parent(s), teens, women and girls: even a few "senior citizens"! All students learn in a safe, supportive, and family-friendly environment. And whether they are seasoned Black Belts or beginner White Belts, all Sun Yi's students benefit from Jr. Grand Master Berger direct, hands-on instruction and personal guidance.

Unlike most martial arts schools, Sun Yi's requires no long-term contract or binding financial obligation. Payment is made month-to-month, entitling you up to three 60-minute classes per week. Fees for uniforms and promotional testing are equally affordable.
