Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi: what do users think?
Christian Labbe: Susan's classes are good for the mind, body, and soul – well paced, relaxing, graceful, and enlightening. My partner and I have been taking online classes with Susan for over a year. Each class feels fresh, and has something new. Susan is my favorite instructor after having taken classes in four other martial arts. A great instructor makes any style of martial arts great.
Debbie Berg: The classes at Body & Brain have helped me improve strength, balance, and confidence! Susan, the instructor, does an excellent job walking us through the movements. Very positive class and experience!
ben clarke: I love their yoga and tai chi classes because there is such a focus on wellness and healing, as well as community and connection. The teacher is knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming. I just feel amazing after class and throughout my week!
Sandy: I am grateful for every class I take from Susan at Body & Brain. I always without a doubt feel better at the end of class than at the beginning. I joined about six months ago wanting to learn about energy and to practice taichi, and have been doing so - but I have also been learning so much more than that. I've had nothing but positive experiences from this school, and Susan is the best teacher! Also, she makes the classes available to attend online, which is very convenient - I usually attend classes this way.
Cindy Brown: I initially set out looking for a Tai Chi class to help my 64 year old body with balance and strength but found so much more. The core strengthening and energy Yoga classes along with brain training and many great meditations has greatly improved my overall health. I highly recommend this journey.
Norma Joyner: I can’t say enough good things about Body and Brain and Susan. I have dealt with anxiety all my life. I has seen many therapist but the talking and meds only went so far. Body and Brain showed me how to take back my brain and my body. For the first time in my life, I am able to control my thoughts and therefore able to better control my emotions. It has been life changing and my entire family not only sees the difference but benefits from it.I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to find some peace and happiness.
Jacqueline Arguelles: I have been part of the Body & Brain family for more than 2 years. This practice has helped me in so many ways but the most important have been finding, connecting and loving myself. And by this, been able to share this love everywhere without judgment and limits. I live in Miami, however, participate and take my classes online with the Body & Brain family from Raleigh. Love the energy, feel the love and really enjoy how Master JiMo gives the classes. She is very detailed and her knowledge and passion are wonderful. Kamsahamnida.
June Chen: I have been taking classes from Ms Jimo (director of Body &Brain Raleigh center ) over a year. My brain feels much calmer, my body feels more flexible and stronger. Jimo is always very punctual, her classes are versatile, I love them!
I'm Stupid: Love coming to class here! I came just to get better balance and flexibility but my level of body awareness has risen dramatically as has my mindfulness. Susan is an amazing instructor 💙💚💜❤️
Gaby Caballero: Body & Brain has been a BIG game changer for me. Since I've been attending for more than three years, I experienced so much improvement on my health and also my emotions. It's helps me a lot with the anxiety and energy levels. After each class I feel more balance, calm and strong. They have different types of classes so I never get bored + workshops are AMAZING. The recent hybrid model (remote and on site) makes it very accessible for me. Susan' class is one of my favorites, she is super nice, makes me feel peaceful, the exercises and meditations are great and fun too. Great school and philosophy, I am very happy to have found them!
Forrest Hinton: What a hidden gem! In looking around for new yoga studio, I found Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi. This is a truly unique place that works your body AND works your brain to create harmony. The exercises are not hard on your body and joints (no jumping around) but rather good stretching, vibrations and relaxation. In the month I have been going, the stress in my neck and shoulders has reduced. I feel more at peace.I would encourage you to try the sample class and see if it is right for you. You just might be surprised.
Destini Tecorya: Great instructor! I love the environment.
Julia Brown: My experience at Body & Brain has been wonderful. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I went for the first time but the instructor Susan was great and welcoming and I felt comfortable right away. I'm really enjoying learning more about my mind body connection, energy flow and movement. It's been such a unique and great experience so far and I'm looking forward to taking more classes. I highly recommend this place.
Barbara Rothenheber: I have been attending Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi - Raleigh for about 3 years. Susan (JiMo) is a great instructor, she inspires as well as guides the class participants on a group and individual level. I especially like the stretching exercises, which work on all parts of the body. The calming influence and energy is found in the online classes as well as in studio classes and we can chose which type of class works best for us on a given day. This practice is great for me as an older individual with physical issues since Susan ensures that we do not feel the need to do more than we are ready to do in any class. The best part of is sharing your experience and good new with class mates at the end of every class; it is nice to keep the mind, body spirit loop going all day.
Jonathan Fabish: Body & Brain is a very different breed of yoga than you might find at the typical studio in Raleigh, and I mean this in the best of ways!I do enjoy a grueling hot yoga class or a slow yin class. But, at B&B, I feel restored and more deeply in tune with my energy after every class. I have felt improvements in my circulation, flexibility, and general awareness in a short time. You can feel new neural connections developing as the exercises challenge your balance and coordination. In the process, be prepared to laugh at yourself joyfully :)One of my favorite things about the style of practice is that it is highly sustainable. I can do it every day, knowing that the risk of injury is negligible. I'm confident that I am keeping myself young and drastically reducing the chance of future injuries. Also, Susan is professional and compassionate. You've got to try this place!
Frank J. Dalli: This Tai Chi class surprised me at how much it works and builds your core strength and energy. The movements are smooth but you are working much harder than you think while participating. Classes offer focus on stretching, balance, and coordination.
Laureen Petersen: I am so grateful to have the opportunity to visit Body & Brain North Carolina. The instructor; Susan is knowledgeable an extremely caring for her practitioners. Classes are flexible and very soothing and calming to the body. I struggled with some health issues until I joined body & brain yoga! The classes helped me to increase my energy and overall flexibility in my upper and lower extremities .What is amazing about body and brain it really doesn’t matter how old you are.If you are in need of exploring a sense of self-awareness, Body and Brain healing and peace of mind, I recommend you visit the center.
Kris B.: Susan was great, but this gives me cult vibes. I would really implore whoever is looking at this to Google "Body & Brain Yoga Cult" for your own understanding. I thought it was strange that the price of courses was not transparent. They provided them in 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year increments. 3 months is about $400, and if you can't afford to purchase it outright, you can put a "down payment" on it. I ended up not joining, though I did take an introductory class.I just didn't like how the founder was spoken about in a "higher than thou" kind of way, and the prices, to me, were a bit unreasonable. There aren't actual yoga poses like downward dog and sun salutations, but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel something during our meditation. Overall, I would certainly caution those away from this organization, but if it works for you, more power to you!
Ms. Anonymous: Excellent experience! Highly recommend.
Cheri Phillips: Positive:ProfessionalismA year ago I severely hurt my lower back. I tried physical therapy and even had two cortisone injections with very little relief. Once I started Body & Brain Tai Chi I have slowly been able to greatly improve my back pain! I highly recommend anyone of any age to give it a try, These classes help you body, mind and spirit.
Timothy Moore: I found Brain and Body Yoga Tai Chi several weeks ago after doing an online search for meditation practices in Raleigh. After my first introductory session, I got a membership and after my first couple classes, I was absolutely convinced I had made a wise choice. Susanleads classes that help you to stretch, improve your balance, strengthen your core, but also to destress and relax through breathing techniques. The classes are always instructive and at times push you to develop your physical capabilities and mindfulness. Susan is always keenly aware of proper body positioning to maintain safety as we practice. I highly recommend this studio.

Chinese Shao-Lin Center of Raleigh: what do users think?
Wan T: Wonderful instructors
Ben Ferguson: Sifu Mo is the best!
Sophia Goss: Chill and no pressure. Perfect for if you're just starting out.
Chris Callado: What can I say about this instructor. He's a compassionate badass that's super patient and a top notch teacher. Great environment and friendly students.
James Lind: One of the best martial arts schools in North Carolina -- the most extensive curriculum available in Chinese martial arts anywhere
tima Ck: Great place to get exercise, learn self defense and mindful tai chi. Strange but true, This is where I choose to have my “me time”!!!. Fellow students are great, fun loving, relax but also disciplined.Sifu is one brilliant and patient guy, doesn’t matter which part of the form or which form you ask him or how many time you ask him, he always answer with smiles. On line material definitely help to retain/practice my learning!!!
Pamela Melton: My family and I have been coming to the Chinese Shao-Lin Center of Raleigh for almost 2 years now. There is never a dull moment and while we are genuinely practicing a great art, there is a lot of laughter and fun too. Everyone is incredibly supportive of each other. Sifu Mo is quite brilliant. His capacity for remembering all of the forms off the cuff when randomly asked, is astounding. He is patient, firm, knowledgeable and kind. I will happily recommend this school to anyone of any age or physical ability. It might not even be the Kung Fu that keeps you here, it may just be tai-chi. There is a lot on offer and there is enough to keep you very busy.
Raquel Carney: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueIs a great place to train, learn, and in the same time have a great exercise. Sifu Mo is a great instructor will answer your questions and always review with you.
Angela Coulter: My family and I have been going for more than 3 years... and love it! We were previously in tae kwon do and hap ki do for 7 years, and then at another kung fu school for a year; this has been a great leap forward.Constantly learning new styles, forms, weapons, techniques... and it's a great mind, body, spirit balance. Self-paced in the way that you decide when you want to test to new belt levels. With the variety of what's offered, we're never bored, that's for sure, and it's a great workout!Great Sifu, laid back and yet very knowledgeable and dedicated. And we have a great pool of peers we enjoy practicing with!
Mark K: I've been training in kung fu and wushu in various schools in the northeast for about 20 yrs and this school for about 3.- A uniform is required but rules are not rigorous. It falls in between the strictest school I've been in and a "shorts and tshirt" school.- The instructor is relaxed, patient and easy going but very knowledgeable. He will point out fine details if you ask.- There is A LOT of material coming at all times. It is a bit like getting a drink from a firehose sometimes. You will need to take notes after class. You won't get bored though.- Sparring is a semi-regular part of classes.- Tai-chi can be taken separately or with kung fu. Wooden man training is also separate. There are also many seminars and you can even travel to the other schools in the US for theirs. A few are required but most are optional but they are a separate fee. Prices are reasonable.- A wide variety of weapons is offered, something I rarely see in martial arts schools.- It shares a space with an exercise class (not at the same times of course) so the floor isn't padded which makes things like rolls hard on the body.- While there isn't a separate kid's class it is mostly adults with 1 or 2 kids in class at a time and it is never a problem.- Students are very supportive of each other with a pretty wide range of backgrounds. Some are novices and some with extensive training in other styles.
Confedyank: Been going for a little while, and it’s good place to practise Tai Chi & Kung Fu for health
Lisa Rose: My daughters and husband all attend here. They started with a free month. They do tai chi and Kung Fu for 13/mth per person for 3 days a week, 1.5 hours each day! The value is outstanding and the teacher (shi fu) is a monk, so the price is greatly reduced. My husband has done a variety of martial arts and is really enjoying the quiet, focused atmosphere. Great for ALL ages!

Master Imari helps the students develop good habits, techniques and work ethic! Coach Louis is great at motivating the students during conditioning and exercise drills! Overall, we love the school and highly recommend it if you are looking for a martial arts program that is a great workout, inclusive community and and positive environment!
haley ahn: Master Imari and her crew offer quality classes at a very reasonable price. We especially like the Saturday classes at the park! We highly recommend!
Sean Frerking: Coach Imari has been amazing. She makes each class challenging but fun. My son loves going to his wushu classes and eagerly practices at home because of the great martial arts studio Coach Imari runs.
Neil Fox: Amazing spot for kung fu. People are excellent instructors and friendly. Great studio.
Jo Gaojian: I have so many positive things to say about East Cloud Kung Fu! Whether you are just starting your martial arts journey or wanting to continue mastering your skills, you should give this place a try. The instructors are kind and knowledgeable but they really will push you to do better. Also they are very accommodating of covid times and the live streams are well led. It's a great community and you will learn a lot if you join.
Doug Proudman: My boys attended Master Imari's Kung Fu classes for about a year and a half and loved every minute of it! The only reason we left is because we moved too far away. It was an hour packed with physical exercise, learning to work with others with respect, discipline, and of course learning to defend oneself. My boys loved working along with the other kids. We miss you, Master Imari.
Gerald Townsend: Great place for adults or kids to study Chinese martial arts.
houda el: My 3 children are attending classes with teacher Imari. Very nice experience 😊!
E Brown: Great physical fitness training in a positive atmosphere. My children have been attending classes here for 3 years. They have learned wushu (empty hand and weapons) and made good friends. Even though they work hard, they never want to miss class.
Muhammed Asim: It is an excellent place for kids to learn Chinese martial arts. Master Imari is really good with kids ....
Nicholas Lai: I love this center so much!
Bo He: It is real Chinese Kungfu!!! My kid love it so much!
Swedish chef: My son has been training here for 2.5 years now since he was 5. We've noticed changes in his fitness, balance, and strength. They do everything to stretches, acrobatics, Kung fu forms, weapons, strength building, and so on. Highly recommended.
Diane L.: My son is starting his third year here. He is learning long fist , sword and staff forms. Master Chen is a great teacher, demanding but fair and knowledgeable. He really care for his students.
Will Alexieff (R3VY): It is a great experience they actually care for what you and how you progress throughout the program and the master there is really funny

Red Sun Academy: what do users think?
Thomas Penna: Redsun Academy is a great dojo to join if you have children and would like to participate with them. Sensei Amy and the students here create a positive environment where you will learn the correct methods and skills that will benefit you and your childs physical and mental growth in the Martial Arts. Unlike past dojo's I have attended where the focus was on attaining the next belt and making a profit, the focus at Redsun Academy is to challenge each individual student to reach their full potential.
Chris Efird: I have been in martial arts almost 40 years, and I can state from experience that this is an excellent martial arts academy. The head instructor is exceptional at providing effective teaching at each student's personal level of understanding. All the students and assistant instructors are very supportive and helpful with learning open hand and weapons techniques.
James Ragin: I'm so glad we found Red Sun Academy! My son's last Sensei was very disrespectful to some of his student's (including my son), and played favorites when it came to awarding belts. Red Sun Academy is the exact opposite. The Sensei is very knowledgable, respectful to the students, and very objective. They follow a structured program and my son even receives Karate report cards (awesome). I highly recommend this Karate school to anyone looking for a respectful, objective Karate program.
Jo Taylor: Does anyone know if they are still in business? They don't answer the phone and there is no email address on their website.
Michael Raimo: I have been training martial arts for over 10 years. I have to say, this is one of the best schools I have ever been to. It's a solid martial arts style with people who want to train and are very nice. The sensai is extremely knowledgeable and is a fantastic teacher. All the students are extremely knowledgeable as well. I can not recommend Red Sun Academy enough!
Jim Laing: I had trained for a few years several decades ago, and I was recently looking to get back to martial arts training, and found Red Sun Academy, starting a couple of months ago. I've very much enjoyed the classes! It has been a great experience getting (re-)started, I'd highly recommend Red Sun Academy. Great 'family' feeling, friendly people, students help each other out, and instructor/sensei works really well with students at all levels (including me as a newbie) ... they offer private lessons as well, which I've done a few of, another great option. The approach is wholistic and encompasses the art and discipline as well as physical/practice that are all part of martial arts. A great way to get a good workout too! -J
Jeffrey Stewart: Sensei Amy articulates the “art” in martial arts. Her approach differs from other martial arts studios we’ve tried. Rather than direct instruction, Red Sun Academy focuses on education and execution through experience and application. It’s no less amazing that my son (age 7) and I (age 38) have been able to progress at a similar rate, giving us an experience that I’ll cherish for years to come.
lesa mutters: Sensei Benevento is a fantastic instructor. She is a skilled and professional martial artist who is clearly passionate about what she does. I highly recommend anyone to train with her. It doesn't matter where you are on your journey...even if you are just starting out or not sure if its for you. Try it! She will meet you where you are. She is a kind, intelligent and intuitive teacher. I highly recommend her if you are interested in Tai Chi!
Sly Glass: A family friendly martial arts program!!! Amy the instructor has developed Jo Kwon Chi, which is a mix of Tae Kwon Jo, Karate and Tai Chi. Focused on self defense, she teaches with an approachable style and encourages a community environment.
Rafael hernandez: This is an incredible martial arts school. The core of this school is character and family building all whole learning self defense. It is a great place to train for the entire family. Lots of parents take their kids and end up taking classes as well. The level of attention you will receive here is second to none. Every class you have an opportunity for one on one learning. Highly recommend, do not hesitate to check us out.
Devin 123: Went here for 2 years, planning on returning to the dojo!
Shane-‘92 Roberts: It was very informative and fun at the same time. I would definitely recommend women of all ages to attend to learn self defense and more. The instructor (Amy) is also very amusing and a joy to be around. I'm glad I went and met some really cool women.
Lucas Andersson: Great community and teachings! Feels like a big family and happy to be part of it!
Garry Douglas Murray: I happen to know Amy at Red Sun Academy and she is one of those people who is dedicated to teaching the marshal arts.Amy is smart, funny, full of life and makes it an interesting, life-changing experience. She has a knack for explaining the "how to dos"I highly recommend Red Sun for learning defense and to have an inner sense of confidence and well-being! GDM
mikey102122: I participated in the aerobics classes at Red Sun Academy. It was a great mix of karate and high impact exercises. I've also known the Sensei of the dojo for many years. She's one of the most fundamentally decent individuals you will ever find. She truly does it for the love of martial arts and not as just as a job. She has been inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame which adds even more to her credibility.
Martin Brossman: If you want training that is practical, competent and compassionate this is the place for you. They train you in real world skills and are excellent with kids. I have met some of the young people that went here and it is amazing how it adds to their personal discipline and confidence. The integrate ethics they including in their training you would want any child to have. I love the lack of contract required. Their view is if if you are not getting value you should not be spending money here.I recommend checking out this if you are interested in: improved health, self-protection, greater self-confidence and just fun.
SR: I participated in a self defense class at Red Sun Academy and loved it. Several of the participants - myself included - has trouble finding the location, but it was a great experience once the class started. Amy, the instructor and owner, was very engaging and personable. She taught us great techniques and ensures we understood them by having us perform them on practice mannequins. This really helped to reinforce the maneuvers she showed us.I appreciated the fact that Amy discussed facts at the beginning of the class to set the mood for what we would learn. Also, she was very conscious about telling us to refrain from doing anything that made us feel uncomfortable in class. She seems to have a lot of experience training women who have been victimized, so she is sensitive to how certain situations can trigger bad reactions from her students.Overall, I learned a great deal and look forward to participating in another class here.
JohnRobert Jancuski: I only Have had great experiences at Red Sun Academy, I have been here for 3 years and love it. It makes me work hard and be polite. We combine 3 styles of martial arts and when ranking up the teachers (and other students) help out in making sure that we understand and follow the concepts.
Chris Wiloby: My experience here has been nothing but positive. I wanted to train with my son, and many other schools are oriented for kids mostly. This school has a good adult program too, they teach solid self defense and not just jumping around, and all the instructors take their own personal time to train with you. This is not a McDojo type of school, they are affordable (I pay $65 a month with no contracts), and the instruction is top-quality.
Maryland BJJ: Unfortunately this place has a student who lies. Although I have never met nor seen this person they made an unflattering accusation about my school. They said they visited my academy and I was rude and unprofessional. I would like to invite them to really come by and we will be happy to share the good energy and acceptance of all students regardless of the past wrongdoings.Unlike this students negative post I WOULD TRAIN here, because martial arts makes you a better person, just in this case it did not. I hope they find happiness.
